The Rite of Profane Ascension will be mine, and he won't see a scrap of its glory. I am going to complete the ritual as the Ascendant, and then I am going to kill him.

my most pre-2020 trait is that when i see people on tiktok and instagram doing fandom on video with their whole face and government name i’m scandalized. back in my day we were supposed to be at least semi-anonymous when compromising the elf’s virtue and you all but have your linkedin attached

"why's the seme so ugly"

"Mr. homo here looking at the seme"

actually what's truly funny about the Astarion book drama is it's perfectly sanitized and neutered the way the parasocial pearl-clutching weirdos want - they're just having to grapple with the fact that what they've been vehemently demanding of everyone is fucking boring

Astar*on book review: 1.5/5 why'd we skip all the important scenes people wanted to see (the turning, the tomb, the darling boy, the scar carving, etc) and spend so much time on a boring backstory and a romance plot no one gives a fuck about? very baffling choices

I recognize this as largely a form of self-therapy on the part of the author, but from a storytelling standpoint I must say I dislike fics where it entirely consists of a character being infinitely forgiven and soothed for all of their traumas and transgressions

it's so tragic when they try to whitewash your fav because like I don't WANT to insist loudly online that a character I like is racist/sexist/etc.... that's not fun for me. but when everyone's trying to pretend those traits don't exist it makes you feel crazy

the Astarion book is conceptually very funny because why would you make a romance book about a character that everyone self-inserts with? guaranteed to make all the yumejoshi mad as fuck

the entire crux of Astarion's character is that he isn't a perfect victim. so to go back and MAKE him a perfect victim is to miss the point entirely.
