We're not in Schengen because the UK opted out Dave. Because the UK is still on our island we have two jurisdictions on our island. So in order to satisfy the Good Friday Agreement and have British hard border in Ireland, we were left with no choice but to opt out of Schengen when the UK did.

It is so ridiculous when ULEZ is just a fancy name for a Clean Air Zone, of which there are many throughout the U.K. and even more throughout Europe If you want to blame anyone, blame the UKG that signed the Gothenburg Protocol (along with lots of countries) in 1999 or the EU Ambient AQ Directive
