I’m @bustingmychops.com but here I geek out about UK train travel. My home station in SHY. My favourite station is NRT. I have a lifetime aim to get on or off a train at every National Rail station in the UK. All photos mine unless stated.

Snaith was the 648th station I’d visited. 647 was Hensall.

Dusk at Snaith station in East Yorkshire. It only gets three trains a day. I arrived on the second train and left an hour later on the third.

I don’t think I’ve been on a train this early since 2012. I got one of the 4am Olympic specials from Leeds to London to go to the games.

I’d forgotten that Leeds station on an August Bank Holiday is awash with rucksacks and mud from those departing the Leeds Festival. A lot of those rucksack owners definitely need a-wash.

Oh dear. Just got on the Grand Central train from Wakefield Kirkgate to Bradford. A passenger asks me if this is Doncaster and I have to break it to her that that was the previous stop half an hour ago.

Welcome to Wakefield Westgate. 25 minutes late as I’m told there were trespassers in the four-foot. Changing here to Sheffield.

We think we’ve cracked the case of the infamous “Welcome to Leeds” sign outside the city’s train station, thanks to the help of a typography expert. Idle chit chat over the sign has been rife, with one commenter suggesting an inverted “p” had been used instead of a “d” - Welcome to Leeps. 1/3

I recreated the BBC News Countdown but with trains
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN OR INTEND TO TAKE CREDIT FOR ANY FOOTAGE OR AUDIO IN THIS VIDEO, ALL I DID WAS EDIT IT TOGETHER, ALL COPYRIGHT AND CREDIT REMAINS WITH OWNERS. About three years ago, I had a try at making the iconic BBC News Countdown but with a focus around the railway. While I'm proud of the original, I figured I could give it another go now that I feel my editing skills have improved, so here is the final product, a fun little project. Credit to the BBC and David Lowe for the track and other relevant IPs featured such as the countdown clock graphics, credit to Tete Does Stuff for the specific version used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m739e8fV2A Footage Sourced From: - Network Rail - Merseyrail - Avanti West Coast - Alstom - The Railway 24/7 (Channel 5) - Paddington Station 24/7 (Our Stories / Rails, Roads & Runways) - The Great Railway Disaster (Channel 4 Documentaries) - The Railway: Keeping Britain on Track Hope you enjoyed the newest addition to the Jakeso channel!

Travelling from York to Edinburgh or Aberdeen? The view of Durham Castle and Cathedral from the viaduct is the first point of many why sitting on the east side of the train is the right thing to do. See also Angel of the North, Tyne Bridges, Almmouth, the Tweed bridge, the border coast etc

It’s funny how memories can be triggered. My first train journey was c1978 (Grimsby-Sheffield with my dad). I thought my second was Lincoln-Alfreton in 1991 going for a job interview. But being in Newcastle today reminded me that mum and I got the train to Whitley Bay before the Metro was launched…

#AllTheStations number 645: Chathill. The most northerly Northern Rail station. An incoming service from Newcastle and back, once in the early morning and one in the early evening. The man in station house came out and passed the guard cold drinks. Probably for him and the driver to share.

#AlltheStations number 644: Cramlington, quiet little station with a pretty much hourly service to Newcastle and Morpeth. Not quite so quiet when a high speed train goes through at 105mph due to it being on the East Coast Main Line.
A tall footbridge between the two platforms at Cramlington station. High enough to get over the overhead line equipment.

#AllTheStatione number 642: Heaton Chapel. A pretty station between Manchester and Stockport.
Interior of Heaton Chapel railway station, featuring a brick wall with a large, colorful word art display. The art includes words like 'Northern,' 'Signals,' 'Friends,' 'Community,' 'Heritage,' and 'Heaton Chapel,' along with the text 'Class 185' and 'Opened in 1852.' Below the artwork, a vintage luggage trolley holds several old suitcases. A sign above reads 'Trains to Manchester,' and a convex mirror is mounted on the wall. A staircase with blue handrails leads upward in the background.

I have questions.
A man looking out of the window of his sleeper train, as it flies through the air somewhere to the east of Westminster Bridge, presumably moments before Portcullis House is destroyed in a bizarre flying sleeper train disaster. He seems unpeturbed by his imminent death.
