I was also a Saturn owner, whose own post-launch analog gamepad only had one stick, so I'm sure I missed a lot of the contemporaneous hype about it.

I'm very interested in the history on this. I vividly remember thinking the analog PS1 gamepad had two sticks just to be symmetrical. Its second stick wasn't used for much at first. It seems obvious now (especially vs. N64's C-buttons) but it still doesn't seem like that was it was made for.

Yup, but it's just volumetric fog, which isn't too tricky to do in unity. The only novelty here is that it's actually projecting the image.

Who is kicking him out of society? Not everyone in society is entitled to be a public personally. He can still get any other job. He money is still good at Target, etc. If he wants a public platform again, he can convince someone else to give him one, or build one himself. It's a free market.

There were *plenty* of outrages last generation, too. People will stomach it again for a PS6. That's not cynicism, it's a reflection of the need for systemic change and creative problem solving over standing idle in judgement. We can't count on "well, this can't possibly go on."
