Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 13/10/2026EVERYBODY EVERYBODY! I've kept my mouth shut for a year about this (*wink*), but it's finally "Serling" day! @sepinwall.bsky.social 0122
Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Anyone remember that John Goodman movie "Matinee" ? Not great, exactly, but good, and extremely re-watchable. It's a thin (if clever) early-60s satire, but it's also unintentionally a snapshot of the "end of history" 90s. @robertpicardo.bsky.social is extremely fun it in it. 010
Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 10/10/2026It's that time of year again where I accept the Audible one-month free trial which comes with 1 permanent book credit. 020
Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I will say this for Googlebooks: they realized that the minimize button [pictured left] should look like more an underscore than a hyphen, as how Windows [pictured right] now does it: 020
Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Noble Comp (for After Effects) is now also available in Adobe Exchange for a seamless install to AE. Apply an arbitrary number of settings to an arbitrary number of compositions (and more) in this advanced Composition Settings panel. In other words: Finally! exchange.adobe.com/apps/cc/2060... 021
Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yup, but it's just volumetric fog, which isn't too tricky to do in unity. The only novelty here is that it's actually projecting the image. 120
Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 06/10/2026@tetronimike.bsky.social, @skrimbus.bsky.social, and I are building a working movie theater for our upcoming video game. Other things we're building for it: * A bookstore * A set of impossible shapes * A fountain * A carnival game * 100 keys * Etc. #gamedev #indiedev 5358

Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Research into AI use shows what we sorta already knew: the more you use it, the less unique the output. "Starting from hundreds of completely different prompts every single run converged on one of only 12 motifs. Researchers called it 'visual elevator music.'" www.nytimes.com/interactive/... 130

Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Have you ever wanted to edit an arbitrary number of settings on an arbitrary number of compositions at the same time? 110

Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 20/09/2026The first of a dozen or so projects, ready to be upgraded. 110
Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Yes, that's correct: The project file I'm opening is *even older* than this. (Shout-out to the non- dpi awareness I'm about to descend into) 120

Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I'm about to attempt to restore and convert a bunch of 15-20 year old video projects. Wish me luck. (This is #gamedev, somehow.) 1134
Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Director Robert Wise was from the old school of deep focus. A lot of the split diopter shots in TMP assisted the storytelling, IMO, but a few of them felt totally unmotivated. His "The Andromeda Strain" had even more of them, and I'd say were used to much greater effect in that movie. 180
Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Control (Committee leadership, etc.) is decided by the VP. In Jan 2001, Democrats took control of a newly 50-50 Senate, but it changed hands 3 weeks later when George W Bush was inaugurated. Hilariously, party control flipped twice more before 2003: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/107th_U... 000

Mark LaCroix 💾 @marklacroix.bsky.social · 20/08/2026We have something similar here which are sometimes called "beg buttons" but they're labeled to indicate what they do and which crossing they're for. The one above just looks like IKEA instructions for how to press a button. 😄 120
