Game dev is sometimes so embarrassing because you write a cool ass scene and just sit there like this while you wait for the artist to read it

My maternal grandmother was a tailor. When my mom was pregnant with me, she ran the family tailoring shop (while being a school teacher) and she had a good eye for what fabrics and silouettes work for what clients... Anyways Dressmaker has made me realize I didn't inherit any of that talent lol

A lot of games use text boxes, character sprites + dialogue choices, but full-screen CGs are SO underutilized as a storytelling mechanic in non-VN games, especially if you can't afford to make animated cutscenes. It just brings so much emotion to the scene, like bursting into songs in a musical.

So with the news of the layoffs at KO_OP, I'm officially looking for work later this fall. I'm an experienced narrative designer that's worked on both sprawling open world stories and intimate cinematic narratives, even netting some award wins and noms. More details on my experience below!

Niu Lai is making headlines, but two years ago, "The Summer of the Mermaid", which took a husband-and-wife team 7 years to make, was universally mocked because it was amateurish. It was a meme too, but it didn't get them box office success at all, and people were extremely cruel about it.

Lovely write-up 🥰What a treasure trove of lovely quotes: "No way is she going to be outclassed by a bunch of Grimm Fairytale rejects." "It's more like a Tim Burton movie with a touch of Pixar's quippiness." "Admittedly, most of the gifts so far are severed heads, but the thought is everything."

Great video! My first foray into poetry was as a lyricist. Every Chinese character is one syllable, so the songwriters just gave me files full of "ah-ah-ah"s and let me do my thing. This video puts it beautifully: Why is it hard to make Chinese music? Because Chinese *is* music.

That part in Slay the Princess be like

A excerpt from Raye's song Skin & Bones. The lyric goes:
Skin and bones (Just skin and bones)
And lungs and a heart (And lungs and a heart)
Two eyes and a liver (Two eyes and a liver)
And a nose and no brain (And a nose and no brain)
