He beat me to it, but I was going to share how I'm using Notion's new dashboard view inside tabbed page layouts :D

Every week (for the last 253 weeks!!) we order takeout from the local Indian restaurant, and lately I've been writing little notes of gratitude in the order notes. They've been writing back and it's simply joy 🥰 I try to think of something new each week to keep it interesting...

It’s close - we actually do these weekly :)

We ended up DIYing a small backyard wedding with ~40 friends/family for around $7500. I’m a huge fan of small intimate wedding vibes!

Finally got around to publishing my annual Year in Review post. Been doing this for 13+ years, and it's always intense, vulnerable, and cathartic. okidoki.notion.site/2025-Year-in...

2025 Year in Review | Notion

This year was the year I designed and renovated my kitchen, recovered from injury, shifted gears around my work, and grieved the loss of both family and friends.

I've been doing weekly office hours for over 6 years now, and they are still my fave part of every week 🥰

+1 to this. I also really like Jake Knapp's approach: medium.com/make-time/th... Also: - end of day reviews - weekly reviews - buffer time is built into the week / assumed (at least a few hours for me is "buffer") - taking on less, cuz it always becomes more anyway 😅

Today I received my very first payment for chef services rendered! Two retreats, four dinners per retreat plus a dessert on the closing night. It was so much fun, and not something I had planned, but was so unbelievably rewarding and fun!

Had a blast in this one-day Indian cooking class at the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver; @typeoneerror.com got it for us as a birthday gift! Their setup and processes are so dialled in, and the instructors are wonderful. Maybe i'll have to take some of their bread/pastry classes next 🤤

Being conflict avoidant is not a badge of honour; you're just making things more challenging for everyone around you who is bending over backwards trying to understand your silence, indirect cues, or mixed messages. Being honest and direct is a life skill truly worth cultivating.

We also use several status properties for different parts of episodes, so assets can have a status, while the recording itself can have its own status, etc: Then we have different views to help us see what's missing (cover images, etc). SO I personally lean toward more being done via properties

010

Marie Poulin 🇨🇦 @mariepoulin.com · 11/08/2025

I do sometimes use a combination of both: some simple checkboxes in the template, others as "tasks" in the task database, and others as more advanced status properties, etc. No right/wrong way, but worth checking in on where there's friction currently in your process.

110

Marie Poulin 🇨🇦 @mariepoulin.com · 11/08/2025

"It depends" :D Checkboxes in a page = super easy, low effort. However, it can be really easy to "miss" what work still needs to be done, or get a true idea of capacity when you've got multiple projects/episodes on the go. Some of this could be part of a status property, some could be in the body:
