It went so well. Amazing students explaining how they’ve been involved in the research project on palaeoclimate data from coal through their BSc course at #UniSvalbard this spring to the King and Queen of Norway. And we ended the day with a reception at the Royal yacht!

Coal mining was the heart and soul of Longyearbyen and now it’s coming to an end. The last mine closes in a couple of weeks. But my daughter got to perform at the open day yesterday for people from town for a last visit to the mine #gruve7remix

STEM cultures often promote “depoliticization” or the bracketing of social or political concerns away from day-to-day STEM work, but when your identitiy and body is politicized then you risk being bracketed off - isolated, overlooked, dismissed - as you are seen as out-of-place
