The top spot of the list of highest grossing movies of all time will always be either Avengers: Endgame or Avatar. They'll trade that top spot every re-release until the end of time.

This is him the other day when his sister Freya smushed him

A white and grey and black tabby cat being smushed by his little sister, a fluffy grey cat named Freya, who is sitting directly on top of him. Theo does not seem to mind though.

Ok so Forgotten Island opened 5th over the weekend? One of the most exuberant and heartfelt movies I've had the privilege of seeing? Guys they DO still make brilliant original movies. Y'all just aren't going to see em! The top 2 movies that weekend were both franchise movies one of them 7 years old!

Seems like most people I know went to see Primetime. Totally understandable looks like a great film and I plan on catching it, BUT don't sleep on The Forgotten Island! It's exuberant, fun, and heartfelt had me sobbing multiple times throughout, and grinning the rest of the time.

It's a literal miracle I've held together as well as I have for the past 10 years or so. I need to remember to acknowledge that from time to time.

"Olde English" Umm what the hell does that mean? Like Beowulf? Cause that's very dumb. Shakespeare was written in just plain English.

I can't say I wasn't warned how bleak and depressing Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is but FUCK ME if that ending didn't hit me like a freight train.

I think the most important book I read as a kid was David Macaulay's "The New Way Things Work". It's a revised version of a visual encyclopedia of the workings of many devices and machines and the principles that drive them. It Instilled the importance and pleasure of understanding how systems work.

The Metal Gear Solid Franchise is full of silly lines but this line near the end of 4 from Naomi Hunter: "Our country is an innocent child once more." Is the silliest. She's referring to the US here. When TF has The United States of America ever been INNOCENT!? 🤣

The more I learn about Cybersix the more I count it as one of the biggest tragedies of late '90s-early '00s tv animation. The series had SO MUCH potential with a creative team that knew and understood EXACTLY how to adapt the (excessively edgy and adult) material for mainstream animation.

What did I say? WHAT DID I SAY!? Look Kojima Productions is a fantastic studio with an unbelievable record of stellar games. Hideo Kojima is a powerful and unique voice in the medium. BUT, they aren't the most efficient studio out there and their attention to detail is time consuming and expensive.

Cybersix was a very fun show. Honestly a huge tragedy that it only lasted one season.

Cybersix from the 1999 animated series, gesturing towards herself saying "Am I edgy?"

She is wearing a black skintight suit with fingerless gloves and a high collared black cape with a red inlay. Her hair is asymmetrically styled with her bangs covering her right eye.

She is the picture of "edgy"

Ok so Sony tried to cancel Physint, and then Microsoft picked up the bill. This reminds me of when Konami cut him out of MGS and then Sony picked up the bill for future projects. Seems the game industry is playing Hideo Hot Potato cause he's way too expensive

Been playing MGS4. Loving it for the most part. The B&B unit makes me uncomfortable though. Conceptually, it's mechsploitation, but the way the game objectifies the unit's members seems to distance us from them like props to pity, eroticize, and do violence to and not eroticized tragic characters.

The worst part of the deaths of good people is knowing that even if bad people die it will never feel good enough to outweigh how much the death of good people hurts. But, it's better this way. No matter how evil one person may be we are always more deeply impacted by the good in the world.

Sometimes, the present feels like a long dark tunnel. One so long the end isn't visible and the only light comes from whatever or whomever is in there with you. It's feeling mighty dim right now and some of our brightest lights are going out.

Summer Wars: starts as a romcom, but that's interrupted by a techno-thriller. Now, the romcom is still happening but it becomes enmeshed with world ending stakes and computer hacking. At no point does it feel tonally inconsistent and at no point is any narrative thread trivialized. HOW DOES IT WORK!

This is neither surprising nor a change in Rowling's position. She is both a TERF and a transmedicalist. Which aren't incompatible. She believes trans people are mentally ill and should be treated with transition, but doesn't believe we are the gender we are.

Tweet reply from J.K. Rowling:
"It doesn't remotely infuriate me. I've always believed that adults with intractable gender dysphoria may only find peace after surgery and taking hormones. I'm glad you're happy."

I understand the artistic reasons for muffling the Sirens' song in The Odyssey (2026), but also it feels like a cop out, and a skosh cowardly. Hearing a version of the Sirens' song (not what Odysseus heard ofc). Could have been a stand out set piece.
