I said something unedifying and H called me out in front of everyone, the sting was brief, we became close friends, I was in his wedding, I was the rare friend when he was in pain, we talked through his five girls until they were married, then Trump happened and he went maga and I said we part here.

I dunno about this one. Most of the people who caused me the most pain were simply psychopaths who took pleasure from hurting others. They weren't abused children, or neglected or starving. Just entitled, middle class assholes who had never learned empathy.
