"A.i." is a tool of fascism. These LLMs are controlled by far right billionaires and absolutely can be manipulated to crank up racism, bigotry, and fascist lies. Keep this shit out of schools, government, and every aspect of your lives.

ah, whether a movie is a 'hit' or not, the profits don't go anywhere worthwhile, and the employees still might get the post-Toy-Story-5 treatment 🤷‍♂️

Still think about my friends' bands' songs from 15-20 years ago, who I've since lost touch with. And that's is why personal art is cool

one thing about Wildwood that caught my attention right away- you don't usually see girl/young women characters with forehead creases, little eye bags etc. they're not too timid with the expressions. a character that's a puppet looks less 'doll-like' than most animated female protagonists

One thing the Landscapes Department has mastered is making magic from mundane materials. The only custom part of that log is the steel, laser-cut branch. I built the rest of this thing out of cardboard tubes, foamcore, chipboard, hot glue, watered-down PVA and tissue paper.

even the nicely-produced animes never bother hiring old voice actors for old characters, they just have a 20 year old going "now see here, sonny"

Scenes such as this where the light is reflecting on the water are accomplished through a process called "backlighting", "underlighting" or "bipack glow". To create the effect a matte is cut and light is shone through the holes.

But I can't think of any individual person funding a movie this way, other than tiny productions like Bill Plympton, Don Hertzfeldt, Michel Gagne etc. Cracking open the wallet for tens of millions? Great

What an anomaly in the industry, I knew Charlie is a big YouTuber, but I didn't realise he has the resources to self-fund an animated movie for himself like this. I guess it's a boom time for youtuber movies

Golden eye 🐡

Photo of a small painting of a tiger salamander on paper. The salamander is a dark purple with bright yellow stripes and the visible eye is painted in gold ink, and posed in a curve on a green background. The paper is rough on one edge and placed on a wood desk alongside a paintbrush and tube of green gouache used in the painting.
