"you've got a lot of rules for a theater kid" Lestat reading Armand for filth while creating the biggest bop of a diss track is just living in my head this week.

An ad came on during the Mariners game that said, "dads are just kids who grew up and had kids." I was too thrown to notice what the ad was for, but I do know no company anywhere has ever said that about moms. Not once.

You know what's wild? Perimenopausal women and Black women in general, we pretty much run on rage and creative solutions. And we don't go on rampages through public spaces that result in body bags. I think about that fact a lot.

Y'all, I met Mick Foley last. WWE legend Mick Foley. He's kind, funny, and if he and his wife ever came asking, I'd be their unicorn feral housewife in a hot second. Which I also might have kind of blurted out. During the Q&A. In front of God and everybody. And he still hugged me.

Once again on Threds and today, someone implied I look old based on a photo I took last summer. Now keep in mind I wear zero makeup, it was 80odd degrees, and I was at an open air rooftop bar. At 45 years old, and not a filer in sight.
Brown-skinned woman with short curly hair smiles at camera with her cheek resting on one hand. She is outdoors and a city skyline can be seen behind her. She is wearing silver rings and a black tank top.

Y'all, I am so confused right now. Over on Threds, I responded to a guy by pointing out how I have to constantly explain how my uncle is yt-passing to yt people, my cousin is read as ambiguously Arab, and baby cousin has green eyes and freckles. His take away? "We get it. You have a Black friend."

please stop forgetting how elections work i beg of you @tonygoldmark.bsky.social · 02/04/2026
...God DAMN this is good.
You people said both sides were the same. So why does every measurable thing now feel more punitive, more expensive, more cruel?

Kamala was the available off-ramp from catastrophe, and many people rejected that off-ramp because they preferred to feel righteous rather than be responsible. And for an entire year, these dishonest grifters used every available lie in the book.

Kamala was a cop. Kamala was a fraud. Kamala was “basically Trump.” Both sides were the same.

This was repeated, endlessly, with the confidence of people who believed their words existed in a vacuum. As though posting were a private act. As though saying something publicly, over and over again, had no effect on the people who saw it. And now, in the aftermath, those same people retreat into a series of convenient fictions.

“My vote didn’t matter.” Then what, exactly, did your voice matter for?

Why spend months speaking if speech is inert? Why post if posting does nothing? Why argue, persuade, signal, and perform if none of it carries consequence? You do not get to believe in influence when it flatters you and deny it when it implicates you.

“I was taking a stand.” Against what? The available reality?

Elections are not moral thought experiments. You are not grading the candidates on a curve for personal satisfaction. You are selecting between outcomes. Real ones. Material ones. The kind that determine whether people can afford groceries, whether rights are enforced, whether the state is actively hostile to its own citizens.

You did not reject Kamala Harris in favor of a better option. You rejected her in favor of nothing. And “nothing,” as it turns out, votes.

This is a profound insight. Few linguistic and discursive concepts are so profoundly infused with racism and classism as honesty, sincerity, authenticity, and transparency. The lower on the hierarchical ladder, the more likely you are judged to be preternaturally dishonest.

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it. They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory. Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human. Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

Black Panther is still one of the most visually arresting, gorgeous films I've ever seen. Every frame is so full of color, detail, and light. Even on television, it gives me a sense of the same chills I felt in the theater, the same sense of amazement. The same feeling of seeing and being seen.

The idea of people refusing to vote bc they don’t want to compromise themselves morally is utterly foreign to Black folks, bc only an extreme amount of privilege makes it possible for people to treat voting as a statement of virtue rather than a tool to improve the material conditions of others.

These were two of my gifts to my mother for her birthday yesterday. Both sets are handmade with a mix of glass and acrylic beads. The tiny (fake) pearls in the red and black set are upcycled from a multi-strand necklace she and I shared back and forth when I was a teenager.
Two jewelry sets of earrings and matched necklaces lie on a black background. On the left, the earrings are off-white rectangles with purple floral print. The necklace has the same bead at the center, on a strand of tiny white crystals. On the right, the earrings are red oval beads. The necklace is a strand of beads in black, hematite, and small pearls, with the larger red ovals and smaller red round beads set off-center.
