Apropos of nothing, I am curious if anyone has studied if bot are actually useful in solving people's questions for customer service. Every time I chat with one I end up with an agent. I feels that companies are saving money and I am wasting my time.

feeling unexpectedly emotional as we visit saerbeck, a town of just 7200 in central germany that formed a climate municipality. they produce 4.5x the electricity they need, and have developed a whole array of climate solutions. one of them? a climate action curriculum that starts in kindergarten.

Numbers update: The history class I’m about to teach this semester has a 10% larger enrollment and university tuition is also 10% higher than two years ago. My class will generate about $160,000 of revenue for the university. My pay will be under $7K or approximately 4%. Humanities fund uni sport

Personally, I feel attacked by Deresiewicz's assumption that good research does not lead to "serious" teaching. It take my job as scholar and as a teacher pretty seriously. And I most in my community do.
