Everything on the chopping block now to accommodate said parking and the fear of the province stepping in. It's a lot of stuff that may never see the light of day. Good job on Vision Zero @thecityofedmonton.bsky.social, I'm sure this will help!! #yegbike #bikesky
All of the ATNE for the City of Edmonton around Capilano and Bonnie Doon. All the bike infrastructure is now delayed forever or due for major changes. The Glenora and Jasper Place areas see their ATNE lanes mostly cut forever potentially. And 64 St. has now also been put on hold potentially forever.

Heads up #yegbike folks, if you're using the 119 Ave. bike lanes, there's a huge downed branch by 94 St. in the lane! That pic was as of 3am last night (July 28th). Lots of small broken branches all over the place too, careful riding out there!

You can tell a lot about how a city thinks of cyclists by where they allow dumpster bins to be placed. @thecityofedmonton.bsky.social has sadly failed the test. This could've been placed on the road as it's closed behind the bin anyway. Do better Edmonton. @edmontonanne.bsky.social #yegbike #bikesky
A large red dumpster bin completely blocking a bike lane adjacent to Churchill Square in Edmonton. It should be noted, this is right beside City Hall which makes it all the more stupid it was allowed to happen. It's nighttime in the shot and you can see lights on in a building in the background.

Explored out St. Albert's way and they have some stellar multi-use paths along the Sturgeon River (minus a section or two). I'm always poking at the edges of the Henday now seeing what this city has to offer on a bike. So much left to discover just in the North alone! #yeg #yegbike #bikesky

Did a 50km bike ride deep into Northern Edmonton. Crossed the Henday and back, watched the storms rolling across the sky, got rained on in the hydro corridor, saw the sun rising the whole time and did my longest ride ever (so far)! A good ride overall I'd say 😍 #yeg #yegbike

Did a long ride south trying out the MUP on 34 Ave. and holy shit is that area in red depressing. It's literally a car sewer due to the insane amount of car dealerships. Makes the area a shithole and then the intersection at 111 St. on that MUP is an absolute disaster to navigate through. #yegbike
An area circled out in red from Google Maps of 34 Ave. in Edmonton between 91 St. and Calgary Trail. A Google Maps view of the 34 Ave. & 111 St. intersection which is a nightmare to navigate as a cyclist. There's goofy gates blocking the multi-use path on the north side of the street so you have to awkwardly ride onto the train tracks if you forget to hit the beg button to switch the lights. I rode it at night and it was bad, can only imagine what it's like during the day. Strava data from my ride down south into Edmonton. Finally figured out why all the construction signs were on the 114 Ave. bike lane. They're installing metal? plastic? bike lane barriers now. Seems Edmonton is experimenting with something else that I'm sure totally won't get smashed to bits @ashleysalvador.bsky.social Concrete or nothing. #yegbike

Did a long exploration through the north of Edmonton at 1am and it is so beyond carbrained up there it actually shook me to my core. Ironically enough, there is so much potential to make it even more bikeable with just a bit of effort and getting rid of all the slip lane intersections! #yegbike
My boy Grasshopper (my bike) posing on the trail between 164 and 165a Ave. in the North of Edmonton. Did a bit more exploring further into the south of Edmonton and oh boy does the bike infrastructure start to fall apart down there. Thankfully it was 4am on a Sunday morning else I'd probably be squished to a pulp by a car with all the highway off ramps 😵 #yeg #yegbike
My boy Grasshopper (a bike) on the overpass over Whitemud Drive. Additionally, they don't need the street parking as all these houses have rear alleys (the yellow highlights) with alleyway access garages making the street parking completely unnecessary. It's like this for large chunks of Edmonton where people bitch about on-street parking going away.

Whatever idiot at @thecityofedmonton.bsky.social who thought putting a million of these hairpin turns into the 106 St. bike lanes should be fired immediately. Absolute design disaster and just asking to injure or kill a cyclist, especially cause this one is directly after an alley exit! #yegbike
A disastrous hairpin turn in a bike lane on 106 St. in Edmonton. It has a concrete curb with a sharp turn right, lane is straight for about 10ft before sharply turning left again. It does this many times along the entirety of the bike lane and is incredibly dangerous for cyclists.

Almost 17 years ago, I was in Edmonton for 4 hours on my way to Grand Prairie. It's kind of wild that I was so close to where I live downtown today! Here's a smattering of photos I took at the time back in July 2009 having just turned 20 before landing. Notice the lack of bike lanes. #yeg #yegbike

Definitely gives hospital vibes like Exhibit B I have here of McMaster Hospital, also from Hamilton. Fun fact, the reason the top floors seem missing is because they are, they ran out of money building it. My Dad worked there his whole life and that was his fun fact story for us always.

An Instagram comment by gary_krutzfeldt in response to a Jesse Watson rage bait post saying downtown is dead as the original video is taken on Jasper Ave. Ya, I wonder why no one wants to sit on a patio or walk down a street with 4 lanes of traffic 🤦‍♂️

A little chilly at 3am, but well worth the ride to explore along the Capital Line, Yellowhead and Ada Boulevard. I know MUPs aren't always the best but hot damn, I loved the one on Ada Boulevard. That's the type of routing I always dreamed Hamilton would have more of but didn't. #yeg #yegbike

If this is an abandoned vehicle complaint, the vehicle must remain stationary for 72 consecutive hours to be considered.

** Please Note: Police Seized Vehicle Lot is currently at capacity. Safety related tows are currently prioritized therefore the timeframe to remove abandoned vehicles is unknown at this time.

Just checking in on the Old Strathcona Market parking discourse and I'm just shaking my head 🙂‍↔️ This guy spent $7k at the market in 2025 but says paid parking means he'll never go again. If you spent that much there you can spend a couple extra bucks on parking ya cheapo. #yeg #carbrain
A Reddit response from r/Edmonton about the parking fees for the Old Strathcona Market. The response says the following:
"I'm among the people the market lost. I used to commute in from a neighbouring community every Saturday. I'd park in the free lot, grab a coffee and treat at Pact, buy a book at the Wee Book Inn and then buy nearly all my groceries for the week at the market. Spent over $7k there in 2025. Once the city started with the stupid app paid parking thing, I paid to park underground at the Roots Building instead. Then they also switched to an app based parking system. Now I no longer visit Whyte, I go to Bountiful instead."

High gas prices? I wouldn't know since I've got my own 2 legs and this sweet set of wheels under me 🤩 Outside of the River Valley, this city is so shockingly flat it's sort of blowing my mind a bit compared to Hamilton. It makes biking more than a viable option here! #yeg #yegbike
Grasshopper posing in the Meadowlark parking lot with a Shell gas station looming in the distance. The parking lights are casting a shadow of the bike that has its front light on and a bright blue pannier attached to the back rack. You can see a few apartments in the distance behind the gas station. It's a calm night overall with a few light flurries falling.

Went for a casual ride around my local neighbourhood and holy hell are there waaaaaaay too many awkwardly placed beg buttons when you're on a bike. Totally stunts your flow. Get more road/bike lane sensors stat @thecityofedmonton.bsky.social!!! #yeg #yegbike
My bike, Grasshopper, with the kickstand up on a multi-use path. It has a bright blue pannier on the back and there is a beautiful mural on the building in the back. The mural is of a sunset with mountains with some flowers on the left side of the mural. There's some snow on the ground with dead grass slightly visible. View of the 127th Street separated bike lane. You can see street trees with no leaves, my bike's front tire in the bottom of the frame and the lane is clear. Grasshopper just chilling by the circle of benches just off 114th Ave. on the linear park path. It's grey skies with a few trees in the background and a garbage can on the left and bench on the right. Both are coloured black and my bike has a bright blue pannier visible. My Fitbit tracking data for my ride around the local neighbourhood near Central McDougall, WIHKWÊNTÔWIN, Westmount, Prince Charles and Prince Rupert in Edmonton, Alberta.

The wife and I took a slow roll ride last night in the light snow. It was her first time back on a bike in over 12 years! Here's us at the end of the track for the Metro Line and our babies together by NAIT/Blatchford Market 😍 So glad to be back in the saddle again here in Edmonton 🚲 #yeg #yegbike
Me, a ginger bearded man with a black and white NASA sweater, glasses, red toque, black jeans and brown boots on. I'm standing in front of my bike 'Grasshopper'. You can see the electric poles on either side of me for the LRT track. There is a light dusting of snow everywhere and some weeds poking through the snow. The focus is soft in the background as it was taken in Portrait mode on my phone by the wife. My wife, a short black woman wearing a grey sweater, black leggings, brown boots. She's posing with her bike, a purple youth bike she's affectionately called 'Pamala Plum'. She's holding up a peace sign with her left hand and her right hand is on her bike seat. You can see the electric poles for the LRT as well as the track in the background. A light dusting of snow covers everything with weeds poking through the snow behind her.Grasshopper & Pamala Plum, our bikes as they sit by NAIT/Blatchford Station. You can see skinny silver bollards behind them and the Metro Line train waiting at the station to leave. There's a light dusting of snow on the bike path and station.

"nObODy tAKeS tRanSiT in EdMoNtoN" you'll hear screamed by people who think they'll be stabbed, robbed and pushed on the tracks the second the step in an LRT station 🤦‍♂️ You're so much more likely to be hurt or killed by cars in this city by a VERY wide margin. #yeg #transit

Thanks to the amazing folks at @bikeedmonton.bsky.social I now have my first bike in Edmonton! The Specialized Rockhopper was the first one I tried out and fell in love 😍 Took him for a 4am spin up to Blatchford Gate Station this morning and it rode like a dream ❄️ #yeg #yegbike
My brand new bike who I'm calling 'Grasshopper' for now chilling by NAIT/Blatchford Market Station. There's light snow on the ground, Grasshopper is a blue bike (though hard to tell in the dark early morning). There is a light that is on both on the front and back of the bike. The kickstand is up and you can see a set of bollards behind him with the station sign nearby. A large illuminated sign that says "BLATCHFORD GATE" which is shining down on my beautiful boy, Grasshopper, with light snow all around. The sky is pitch black and everything is calm. The station is still closed with construction gates all around it. A view of Grasshopper with light snow all over the ground. The front light is beaming away and you can make out the Edmonton downtown skyline in the background. Grasshopper has fenders and blue brake cables. It has silver coloured alloy rims around the tires. The original listing for the Specialized Rockhopper (Grasshopper now). The description reads as follows:

While modern mountain bikes have become increasingly complicated and specialized, rigid mountain bikes boast a versatility that never goes out of style. They are capable of handling all sorts of off- road conditions without losing efficiency when they hit the pavement. This Specialized with upright handlebars and the best shifters Shimano ever made already has a rack and fenders installed, for increased commuting utility, and would be a good choice for someone who is looking for a bike to travel and play on all year round.

Size 18" frame will fit riders in the 5'6" to 5'9" range.

26" x 2.1" offroad tires on alloy rims.

Available at Bike Edmonton for $395.

You know, I think I'll take the far more steady and overall sunnier Edmonton weather (Pic 1) over my old hometown of Hamilton (Pic 2) where it's pissing rain and the temperature is whiplashing you all over the place. My head would be pounding with that weather in Hamilton. #yeg #hamont #weather
2 week forecast for Edmonton, Alberta where the temp slowly rises from a daily high of -6 Sunday to a steady 0 to 3 degrees for the rest. A few random days of light snow, sun for the others. My old hometown of Hamilton, Ontario where the temp is a daily high of 10C Sunday going to 18 Tuesday before bottoming out the next day to 4 and then it's up and down for the next two weeks and pissing rain all over the place.

I can't get over how much of a weasel Jesse Watson is. This commenter lies about the price of ETS, Jesse originally agrees, I post the correct amount and he immediately flip flops and then likes my follow-up comment for some reason. I'm glad he lost the last election, what a shitler. #yeg #yegcc
An original comment on Jesse Watson's post whining about ETS transit says that the price "It's almost $4 now to ride which is completely ridiculous.".

The bottom comment, Jesse's original response says "Ya it's high".

I respond correcting the original comment with "It's $3 on Arc, debit or credit, what are you even on about?".

Jesse then responds to me saying "seems ok".

I follow it up with "Ya, it is... The fare cap is only $102 a month, quite reasonable for the size of the system and city it covers I'd say."
Which Jesse likes for some reason.

The guy is just a 2-faced weasel.

You'll never convince me otherwise that having this amount of sheer sun and blue skies is a bad thing. I truly feel 🙏 to have it this good now. Winter is truly miserable back in Ontario for the most part [in my opinion]. #yeg
View from 104 St. facing North. You can see Stantec tower looming in the distance. A large tree is in the right side of the frame. A large tree branch arcs over the top of the photo from the left side of the frame. The multi-use path and road are both covered in a light dusting of late March snow. The sky is clear blue with a bright white sun beaming down. It's a gorgeous view for an early spring day.

@edmontonanne.bsky.social @andrewknack.bsky.social The parkade at Rogers Place on 102 St. needs to be rectified immediately! Has massive blindspots where my wife & I were almost smoked by a truck after watching a mobility scooter tilt on 2 wheels being almost crushed a minute prior yesterday! #yeg
A Google Streetview of the Parkade Entrance to Rogers Place on 102 St. in Edmonton. It's a big grey tiled wall with the exit having massive blind spots on both sides with a wide sidewalk crossing over the exit. It is a literal deathtrap for pedestrians.
