The day I left Bunia was also the day with the highest number of confirmed #Ebola cases since the start of the outbreak. This doesn’t look good. This outbreak is going to be with us for a while. #DRC #outbreak

Almost two months into the #Ebola outbreak, the world still doesn't seem to grasp how critical the situation is. Most cases are likely going undetected. Aid cuts are hampering the response, while communities are being overwhelmed by disease, conflict, and chronic poverty.

More Iranian officials killed. Deeply troubling how warfare is being reduced to extrajudicial killings and politically motivated assassinations. Not just military targeting, but political elimination. All this technology, yet the logic looks closer to a mafia-style power struggle.

Three days ago, Israel ordered the south evacuated. Two days ago, they did the same to the southern suburbs. That’s more than one million people. Some, the most vulnerable, are sleeping rough by the sea or on sidewalks. Today, it is raining. War harms the poor the most.

These days I can’t stop watching Al Jazeera (maybe trying to guess where I’ll be deployed next). US officials sound like a stream of inconsistencies, loose arguments and obvious lies. you can almost feel the disbelief in the room. Israeli officials are more direct. But what they say is horrifying.

It is not only about #oil. A full blockade of the Strait of Hormuz + airspace would empty fresh food shelves in 1–2 weeks across the Gulf states and cities. Almost nothing is produced locally. Shortages and rationing would hit fast.

I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds. I support neither imperialism or dictatorship. Sahar Delijani said it best:
I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves.
Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone.
That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins.
If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after.
