I just ran across a post that said a Thai translation company was possibly going out of business due to AI. I would like to respectfully insist that translations be labeled - so we know who is using AI-gen translations and avoid them like the plague.

I was given a recommendation - and I have a soft spot for dramas about writers (for reasons). The Proper Way to Write Love Japan, 2025, 8 episode of about 25 min, on GagaOOLala Let's go! #crowtitsfujo #BLseries #JapaneseBL #TheProperWayToWriteLove

I looked in my frog tank and I was really worried because there was obviously a recent insect hatch - and I had no idea what they were! They did not look or act like isopods - so I examined them closely. Crickets!!! Tiny baby crickets! Everywhere!

There are always such awesome cross-promos during Bisexual Visibility Month - and I never get in on them. I just don't hear about them when they are being set up. ☹️ Maybe next year?

I just saw a reel about a P.O.S. trainer that is hypersexual and has been inappropriate to prospective clients, as well as a reel about a rich woman who *paid for a short drama series*, cast a young man as the male lead, made herself the female lead, and filled the script with kissing scenes.

I think this is probably due to the prevalence of the "vanity press" where people who had enough money to self-publish were the only ones who self-published NOVELS. It was essentially impossible (until very recently in the scheme of things) to self-publish unless you had lots of $$$.

131

mamelby @mamelby.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

For some reason, I am in the mood for Japanese BL. Are the Sexy Buttocks Not Good? Japan, 2026, 10 ep of about 15 min each, on GagaOOLala Let's go! #crowtitsfujo #BL #AreTheSexyButtocksNotGood

132

mamelby @mamelby.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

I'm thinking about the concept of being "homosocial" and wonder if some of that inclination is deeply rooted. That sex-segregation is so strongly policed by some people because they have an instinct for segregation that goes slightly beyond cultural expectations - and involves deep gut reactions.

100

mamelby @mamelby.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

In the social sphere as well. Please. This is fine. I've seen so many attempt to include nonbinary folks and trans men - that just come off as insulting to nonbinary folks and trans men and also just TERF-y as fuck. Just say you are excluding cis men if that's what's what you are doing.

I'm often reminded that my childhood has given me a perspective that may seem very strange to a lot of people who cannot relate. The people who sincerely loved me, fundamentally hated me. Someone who was violent toward me, was a victim and a child. Then just add the concept of "saved by grace".

100

mamelby @mamelby.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

The term "homosocial" is useful here.

020

mamelby @mamelby.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

So, this is going around.

Your dialect map
Redder areas talk more like you; bluer areas least.

You talk most like someone from North Dakota — about 53% of your answers match a typical resident.

mydialect — standard

Heat map of the US "least like you" in blue and "most like you" in red - with the midwest being the most red and the south east and east coast being the most blue.

crowdsourcing: we've all seen U.S. maps or charts showing that online searches for "trans p0rn" are most common in red states that have passed the most anti-trans legislation. does anyone know of any academic studies or articles from "reputable" media outlets on this? please no social media posts...

So, we've gotten to the point where I feel the need to check (with some drama recommendations) if there is a cast. You know. A cast of real humans. I guess the vertical short-drama industry is over-run with AI.

Should I get an MFA? I guess not. I mean, I know why they require this - but I could literally not physically do it. Unsure I could even do this with accomodation. "In consultation with their advisor, students will compile and read a booklist of 40-60 titles."
