Stormy skies over a skull-topped gravestone, Reculver, Kent.
A dilapidated headstone, bearing an inscription weathered beyond legibility while retaining a barely visible illustration of some few carved skulls at its top, stands in open ground with storm clouds in the background.

Social media post by Sam Shopp captioned about their “most prized possession” — a used copy of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë defaced so that every mention of “Jane” is crossed out and replaced with “Spiderman” or “Spidey.” The left image shows the book’s cover, a Barnes & Noble Classics edition, with the title altered to read “SPIDER-MAN” and a Spider-Man sticker placed over the original cover artwork. The right image shows an interior page (the deathbed scene with Helen) where “Jane” has been handwritten over with “Spidey” throughout

The three ages of Merlin.
A triptych of photos, in which the England football coach Thomas Tuchel is, in the central photograph, flanked by two shots of the actor, Colin Morgan, with the latter depicted respectively as young and old versions of the character Merlin from the BBC TV series of that same name. The supposed comic implication is that, due to a perceived resemblance, they are all one mythical, magical personage at different stages of their life. (And further that the England men’s football team requires a miracle worker at the helm if it is to win the World Cup.)

Scientifically, a raven has 17 primary wing feathers, the big ones at the end of the wing. They are called pinion feathers. A crow has 16. So, the difference between a raven and a crow is only a matter of a pinion.

Running late? Forgotten to recharge your newfangled smartwatch? Try this handy PORTABLE SUNDIAL. No charging ever again. (Solar time only. Might not work at night. Reduced utility in winter.)
Electroform copy of portable sundial.
The original of this electroform copy of a tenth century portable sundial was found in Canterbury Cathedral's cloister garden during alterations in 1938 and is held in the Canterbury Cathedral Archives.
Abbreviated month names in Latin are written on each side of the sundial corresponding to the hole a peg should be placed into during that month. If dangled from its chain facing the sun, it would give an approximation of the time. Around its edges, an inscription reads '[SAJLVS FACTORI [PAIX POSSESSORIT: 'Health to my maker, peace to my owner.'
