I bought some really fancy milk last week under suspicion of a1 protein intolerance after being able to drink regular milk anywhere in Japan. Holy smokes! you wouldn’t believe how this has a taste and mouthfeel of the rolls royce of milk compared to anything I’ve ever had!

We've somehow been sold that prices only ever go up. Businesses proudly announce price rises, new fees and new surcharges. When was the last time you saw a business proudly announce: "We've found savings and reduced our prices." That's the kind of business I'll go out of my way to support.

Card surcharges have always been a skill issue for small business owners who struggle with taking ownership for managing their costs. How about instead of contributing to inflation by using any excuse to slog customers, why not have a go at looking for reasons to reduce prices?

There’s less diesels and more hybrids on the streets in Tokyo, which means less nasty tailpipe pollution and less brake dust pollution thanks to regenerative braking systems. I think it was a major contributor to my health improving while I was over there.

You know what really gets my goat- that RANZCO bravely reckoned with itself and now have five Aboriginal trainees, but @racsurgeons.bsky.social has 3. THREE. Across all nine specialties. Given how long training takes, many specialties will still have no Indigenous specialists in 2033. 😡

We’ve driven over 18000kms in our EV. I am looking forward to driving it when I get back, but Japan has definitely shifted how I think about walking and public transport, especially with 50 cent fares in Brisbane.

I haven’t done as much shopping in Japan as I expected. Electronics are the same price as AU sales. AU warranty is better. Alcohol is less than half price, but I can only take back a couple of litres. I’m picky about fabrics, so pretty much only got one new shirt in forest green.

My favourite thing about some toothpaste I got in Japan is that not only does it actually work, but uses a subtle mint flavour instead of a weapons-grade ultra mint that is more likely to scorch your palette for reasons completely unrelated to dental hygiene.

For me, changes of plans are my biggest autism meltdown trigger. I can spend hours or days preparing myself for what's coming. When plans suddenly change, it is like a bullet train trying to make a 90 degree turn. It's not about being stubborn. Struggling with sudden changes is my disability.
