For this Halloween, I drew Not-Camazotz. 🦇 I wanted to draw my take on this as a way to get back to work on my Mesoamerican fantasy project. This is an update to an older sketch I drew. #art #conceptart #mesoamerica
Digital ink drawing of a Mesoamerican-inspired bat creature/ deity. Most closely related to Camazotz. The creature is perched on top of a loosely drawn rock platform. It is adorned in Mesoamerican-inspired accessories. The background is red and small bats flying around to show the size of the creature is quite large.

I was suspended on Twitter for, I think, replying to so many people about Apocalypto and linking my breakdown post about it 😅 Would appreciate it if those who feel comfortable doing so, still use Twitter, and have followers there who also follow me, tweeting out about this while also tagging...

If you live in the EU, please consider signing this! This has already gotten attention from legal and judicial officials and other EU lawmakers, and it reaching it's goal would potentially mean real legal reform on the issue of accessing/using software you bought once servers go down!

Does anybody have experience ordering books from Mexico to the United States? I'm wanting to order some academic archeology books from the INAH's store but i'm trying to gauge how much shipping would be or if it'd be cheaper to have it shipped to a friend in Mexico then them to me vs directly to me

Sad to hear that Tomas Filsinger passed away: He did incredible satellite style art of Tenochtitlan and the Valley of Mexico, and was a major inspiration for other artists and projects like @paulguinan.bsky.social and @thomaskole.bsky.social There is a silver lining: Recently the CCH department...

This is likely THE most well researched depiction of a shrine in the Templo Mayor / Great Temple of Tenochtitlan , the Aztec capital To the point where Rafael even submitted an academic paper for publication to accompany the piece! Please check out the art and like, repost, etc Rafaels's post!

As a PSA: The new TOS went live on Twitter, and contrary to rumors, the 'Opt-Out of my posts being used to train AI" option is still available If you or friends deleted or were planning to delete your account over that, it's worth reconsidering (not that there aren't other issues with the site)

Ok so lets see some of the pages finally! The story starts out in a city called Teko, inspired by the West Mexican Shaft Tomb cultures, with futurist Guachimontones which have become large civic centers. Also as you can see the comic is b/w though I'd love color I would have to hire a colorist lol.

Let's dive into Dream Rider...
Graphic novel cover of Dream Rider. A girl riding a large mythological dog in a dark place at the top. A futuristic street scene with buildings sporting pointy rooftops inspired by West Mexican shaft tomb cultures. In the street scene a man rides a monocylce with a plumed serpent design aesthetic.

Hello! I do posts on, and assist people with research & resources for Mesoamerican (Aztec, Maya, etc) history and archeology... plus sometimes random stuff with my anime/manga and gaming interests! I was @Majora__Z on Twitter before I was erroneously suspended, so for now around on here!
Partial detail photo (taken by me at the "Imagined Realism" exhibit) of "Distant view of Tlatelolco" painting by Scott and Stuart Gentling/Rights managed by the Amon Carter Museum

The painting depicts a wide vista view of the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan as seen looking North from the summit of the city's Great Temple, with the central precinct of Tlatelolco (technically a separate city Tenochtitlan physically absorbed as a de facto fifth city quarter) visible in the distance, which is what is seen in the frame of my photo here in the background.

Inexact cropping, downscaling, and color correction applied to the photo... while I am normally fine with people reusing my photos, this specific photo depicts art still in Copyright, so refer to the Amon Carter museum for rights or use/repost at your own risk.Ceremonial Bimetallic Bowl with Anthropomorphic Figures, Chimu Civilization; Photographed by me at Met Museum "Golden Kingdoms" exhibit (https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/722266)
