I got my account back! Also, helped @gnoggin.net out with a video breaking down the Aztec influences behind a specific Digimon design, Tlalocmon ! Check it out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Otqn...

With that volume, do some emails sent to ANN get missed? A month ago I pitched some articles, following the FAQ guidelines, and only got what looked like a automated noreply response, and I haven't been sure if I should follow up or not (It's possible/understandable y'all just weren't interested!)

For this Halloween, I drew Not-Camazotz. 🦇 I wanted to draw my take on this as a way to get back to work on my Mesoamerican fantasy project. This is an update to an older sketch I drew. #art #conceptart #mesoamerica
Digital ink drawing of a Mesoamerican-inspired bat creature/ deity. Most closely related to Camazotz. The creature is perched on top of a loosely drawn rock platform. It is adorned in Mesoamerican-inspired accessories. The background is red and small bats flying around to show the size of the creature is quite large.

I would like to point out that even if much of the Americas in EU5 isn't pop-less, just state-less, that's not necessarily correct. For example, the only listed/state playable Mississippian polity is around Cahokia, when there should be dozens of others across the Eastern US at the time.

Please increase the character limit and image resolution limit, this is by far the main obstacle I have to using bluesky regularly, I would even happily pay for something that gives me, say, a 4000 character limit rather then the 250 it is now It's impossible to be detailed or nuanced currently

Due to the character limit here, I wouldn't get your hopes up of me posting frequently, keep in mind.

Hello, I do posts on Mesoamerican history and archeology, and I was wondering if we could speak over DMs regarding potential photo usage permissions/licensing of your photos of this? I'd really love to potentially get them up on Wikimedia, in particular, and i'd be happy to compensate you for that!

I think in practice we've seen that Twitter, Bluesky, etc isn't used for "microblogging", it's replaced forums and message boards as a major communication and new sharing ecosystem. It's frankly irresponsible to manage them yet design them in a way structurally enabling of toxicity and reductiveness

I don't think "the purpose of the site is to force people to remove nuance, overgeneralize, and be inflammatory" is a good sell Encouraging people to be concise is one thing, but 300 characters is just not enough to talk about things beyond a millimeter of depth. I even already hit the limit here!

MajoraZ @majoraz.bsky.social · 28/10/2025
Please offer a method to have an extended character limit, 300 characters is not enough to be nuanced when discussing complex topics Also, increase the image resolution limit!

Related: bsky.app/profile/majo... I will note though that the Mesoamericans and Andeans did have some contact which wasn't totally diluted by being so indirect, in that there was trade between Ecuador and West Mexico via coastal naval routes

If you'd be comfortable having your photos available with a CC BY or CC BY-SA license, you should consider uploading them to Wikimedia I do posts on Mesoamerican history/archeology, work with Youtubers etc and having more material that's usable is always very helpful, especially CC BY images

As someone who keeps up with Mesoamerican history/archeology, most researchers didn't think the Spanish made the skull rack up, they thought they exaggerated it's size And they did: The excavated rack had ~16,000 skulls vs Duran claiming it had 80,000 or Andres de Tapia claiming it held 136,000

...would you happen to know more about that/this? I wasn't expecting it to be as vibrant as the 1:1 replica at the site museum, but I thought it was as bright still as the Margherita phase structures?

I saw this recently and was confused by how dull the paint on the Rosalila was, I was under the impression that the paint was almost entirely intact and vibrant? Someone else told me that Copan's denizens covered it with stucco when building over it, though that contradicts what I thought too...

That doesn't change the quote being bad Nintendo, Sony, etc are still responsible for the status quo where consumers can't just buy old games in stores because they sued and lobbied against emulation being normalized See Frank Cifaldi's GDC talks

I imagine you have less then zero interest in Fortnite (as do I), but you absolutely, 100% have to watch the trailer they did for the Power Rangers collab They used actual Tokusatsu style suits in live action with the same sort of effects and really, really slick coregraphy. It's incredible

...much actual Chichimeca fashion or dress either, though some Chichimec communities still do more traditional styles of it. I also wouldn't say Xiuhtecuhtli is the sun god: That's clearly Tonatiuh, though both Xiuhtecuhtli and Huitzilopochtli have some symbolic ties the sun.

The Concheros dance originated as authentic Chichimeca traditions, but in the early 20th century it adopted a lot of pop culture tropes at the time (so stuff like Jesus Helguera's art), these days many variations of it, and especially the Danza Azteca dances it spawned off, don't resemble...

Awesome, thank you! Please go ahead and message me then (you don't have yours open, so I can't initiate), or if you have an email I can reach you at that might be even better, since Bluesky's character limit even for DM's is somewhat small😅

I don't really have too many specific ideas beyond wanting those, though obviously for more G Gundam suits, the Nobel Gundam and Gundam Spiegel are obvious picks I will say i'd love for you to also upload the art at a higher res elsewhere too since bluesky has a lower resolution limit then twitter!

I play Pokken competitively and my big brain idea has always been that it should have included Pokemon Stadium minigames not just to add replay value for casual players and in party contexts, but since said minigames deal with precise timing, spacing etc and could teach fighting game concepts

...and lobbying around this under the guise of "protecting artists", but have supported explictly anti-artist bills like SOPA, PIPA, and ACTA, and have even outright said they want human creators to lose Fair Use lawsuits too I explain further here: x.com/Majora__Z/st... and x.com/Majora__Z/st...

...I can't fully explain the nuances of this within Bluesky's character limit, but the short version is A: Within the context of Fair Use determination, AI being automated may not matter so precedence set vs it could apply to other art and B: Disney, Adobe, the MPAA, RIAA etc are astroturfing...
110
MajoraZ @majoraz.bsky.social · 13/06/2025
Fanart was already generally infringement and not Fair Use, yes, but I wouldn't dismiss the possibility that lawsuits against AI could narrow Fair Use in a way which still might make actual human made art that uses references, or web scraping for archival purposes etc, potentially more liable...

Unfortunately, forums don't really exist anymore. Also, I don't really care that it's not "what twitter/bluesky is for", ~300 character limit posts forces people to remove nuance and encourages inflammatory discourse, and it litterally gives me anxiety to try to have to work within it

I'm not going back to spending hours of my time trying to split up posts across multiple replies within a <300 character limit I think you're also underestimating how long my posts can get, sometimes I make tweets over 15,000 characters long. Not that bluesky needs to support that, but...

Please offer some sort of option for an extended character limit, that not being a feature like it is on Twitter is THE main thing preventing me from using Bluesky as much as I use that I do big posts on history/archeology and really benefit from extra text/characters to use in posts!

There's no reason you can't have an extraction game be playable offline via LAN, albeit with some limitations and caveats.
