this is in iOS 27. could nature be healing? are Easter eggs returning to software? (probably not at least to the first one, I don’t think we’re un-ringing the “computers woven into the very fabric of our lives” bell)

has outsourcing your thinking to stochastic text generators destroyed your capacity for independent thought and now your stochastic text generator is refusing to order a pizza for you? Papa John’s AI pizza assistant can help!
Suggested uses of Papa John’s “AI pizza assistant”, “Lou AI”:

- “Family night: ‘Order dinner for family & friends’”
- “Ordering for vegetarians? ‘Help me create a meat-free order’”Suggested uses of Papa John’s “AI pizza assistant”, “Lou AI”:

- “Pizza party: ‘I need to feed a group of kids’”
- “Order on a budget: ‘Build an order that fits my price range’”

I have no illusions that I am or ever was meaningfully in touch with popular culture but few things drive that notion home harder than fast food collaborations with people I have to google to find out who they are, like this at Dunkin

I feel like a hypocrite because I find pandering nerd-"culture" mashups to be eyeroll-worthy at best but at the same time I also think shit like danny dorito is hilarious, even though it's ultimately not especially different in spirit
An illustration of a Nacho Cheese Dorito with Danny Devito's face. The illustration also features a couple of abstract triangular shapes reminiscent but not identical to the current Doritos logo, and the text "DANNY DORITO" below the Danny Dorito in a font resembling the font used in the Doritos wordmark.

I feel like bill watterson probably has already used the internet, and it was probably only for about 15 minutes, until he saw something that made him react like cornelius in this achewood strip. watterson probably used a baseball bat or a golf club instead of a cricket bat though
the Achewood strip from December 7, 2007, "Philippe's king equipment", in which Philippe is wearing a very monarchical getup including a genuine ermine robe, the money for which he got by naively corresponding with a pervert. upon learning this, Cornelius's reaction is to smash the computer with a cricket bat

a three panel line-art comic in the style of airplane safety instructions or a similar primarily-visual instructional document. the panels are captioned at the top. each panel contains an illustration of a white man in a white t-shirt and gray shorts in a specific pose.

panel 1: “lie down”
the man lies on his right side, hugging his knees to his chest. there is a white puddle at his head appearing to come from his mouth or face, and an indistinct object behind him that could be a broom or mop.

panel 2: “try not to cry”
the man lies on his other side, an arrow indicating that he turned over. he is still hugging his knees to his chest.

panel 3: “cry a lot”
a closeup on the man’s face. he is crying, a tear flowing from his right eye. a small puddle has formed under the left side of his face.

occasionally I am reminded that the corporate headquarters for Denny's is (a) in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and (b) an enormous brutalist concrete slab that if not for the Denny's logo would probably not look out of place in any Soviet-era Eastern European capital
A photograph of the Denny's corporate headquarters in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It is an 18-story slab of concrete reminiscent of Cold War-era Soviet architecture, the only detail betraying its status as a monument of capitalism being the Denny's logo whose yellow and red coloring looks almost garish and oversaturated contrasted with the mildly weathered gray concrete building.

hi, red state queer here. don't make me tap the sign
A meme with two paragraphs of text:

"ignoring and writing off southern states as unsalvageable due to regressive policies does nothing to help those fighting against such policies, and only aides further regression"
and
"your neighborhood isn't better just because it has brick oven pizzas and craft breweries".

The text is set in the Hobo typeface, with the first paragraph being a shade of purple close to lilac with a black outline, and the second black text with a white outline. The background is a gradient from a darkish yellow at the top-left to seafoam green at the bottom-right. To the left of the first paragraph and above the second one are a pair of morel mushrooms and a possum with a raised middle finger wearing a cowboy hat. In the bottom right, below the first paragraph and to the right of the second one is a plate of cornbread squares. In the top right, above the first paragraph, is a cast iron pan.

George Lucas ass character naming
"The team threw a Hail Mary to George, saying the game would have more credibility if the apprentice had a 'Darth' title," a Force Unleashed team member says. Lucas agreed that this situation made sense for Sith royalty, and offed up two Darth titles for the team to choose from. "He threw out 'Darth Icky' and 'Darth Insanius.' There was a pregnant pause in the room after that. People waiting for George to say "just kidding, but it never comes, and he just moved on to another point."

I've seen at least two tech youtubers review the Light Phone III lately and not one of them has addressed the fact that their logo CLEARLY SAYS "JIGHT". how can I be expected to take the Light Phone seriously when no one will admit that it's the Jight Phone

the question so often asked that it has its own section in the wikipedia article on the song: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I'd_Do_...
Meat Loaf said the question, "What is 'that'?" was one of the most common questions he was asked. He felt the message in the lyrics was clear, but Steinman had expected they would cause confusion. In his 1998 VH1 Storytellers special, he explained the lyrics on stage using a blackboard and a pointer.

In each verse the man describes things he would do for love, such as "I'd run right into hell and back", followed by a promise of something he will never do, such as "I'll never forget the way you feel right now." He then declares again that he "would do anything for love, but [he] won't do that." "That" refers to whatever he promised he will never do, making the declaration "I won't do that" a simple repetition of the promise.

I know coffee is acidic but it’s not usually “instantly curdle my half-and-half” acidic (and yes, I did drink about two-thirds of it like this. I didn’t want to waste it. the half-and-half passed the smell test so I figured it’s fine. the coffee did taste very slightly off, though)

transparent electronics are trendy again which is cool and all but when is this aesthetic going to experience a renaissance
An AKAI PJ-11 portable stereo. It is small, boxy, and bright red. A cassette player occupies most of the front face of the stereo, with the frequency chart for a radio tuner to the right of the cassette door. The attached speakers are rotated at an angle to demonstrate this feature of the PJ-11. Standard cassette transport controls and audio controls (volume, bass, treble, etc.) are on the top face of the stereo, with the transport and audio controls oriented at a 45-degree angle.A Sony HitBit HB-101 MSX computer. Like many 1980s home computers, it is a single integrated unit with a keyboard. The chassis is bright red, a color reminiscent of sports cars, with a dark gray inset for the keyboard, which is a Japanese QWERTY keyboard and differs somewhat from a modern PC keyboard layout; it has light gray alphanumeric keys and smoky gray modifier keys, along with a four-way d-pad/joystick. Five function buttons in an orange color are on the left part of a raised portion of the keyboard inset above the main set of keys, along with another set of four and a power button on the right.A Sony FH-7 Mark II portable stereo. It is very boxy and (mostly) very red, with a small strip of ivory highlighting controls on the right side of the front face of the stereo unit. The boxiness of the design is accentuated by the speakers, which have apparently square drivers (likely just decorative fascias) visible through the mesh.An ITT Schaub Lorenz clock radio. It has a two-tone red and black body; the black portion contains the clock display (identifiable as a vacuum fluorescent display from its telltale turquoise blue color), the radio tuner, and controls, which include sliders for turning the radio on or off, selecting the frequency band, and setting the volume, and for turning the alarm on or off and choosing what is displayed on the clock. The snooze button at front left is large, semi-cylindrical, with linear knurling.
