This is an important piece of the school effectiveness puzzle. Too often educational leaders will complain, often with the encouragement of the for-profit company that sold them whatever intervention, that decisions aren't being "implemented with fidelity."

Critical discussions about LETRS, which is not backed by research, are difficult because a) it has been marketed to educators as a way to DO SOMETHING amid the "literacy crisis" and b) teachers feel more knowledgeable after LETRS. The realities are much more complicated. time.com/article/2026...

LAUSD and NYC Schools enroll approximately 1.62 million students. That’s about 3.2% of public school enrollment. Local organizing made this happen in the largest districts in the country. That means it can work anywhere. The 48 million children are waiting.
