I’m in the legal field so I don’t get to do a lot of science, but I’m currently working within the legal tech field so now I feel my Star Trek nerdiness coming through as I’m learning about AI and quantum computers

everyone is being laid off, everyone's job security is in shambles, there are no open positions at my skill levels. if you do know of any work that some guy that worked in public television, video game qa, or independent sewing could do, let me know.

It’s Calvin & Hobbes cartoonist Bill Watterson’s birthday today. When I was a kid I was so obsessed with Calvin & Hobbes that I carried around a stuffed bear and called it Hobbes. There’s no official merch (which I love), so my grandma painstakingly crafted this for me. Pic of him from my mom today

Star Trek, The Next Generation, S3 E19

Picard, scantly dressed and trying to relax in Risa, proclaims "Riker"

The young woman Picard is talking to replies to him, that this Riker person seems to be close to him.

Picard clarifies that "love" might too strong of a word for his feelings towards Riker.

b) Crew Voyager is in a hibernation state, for whatever reason. Everyone is supposed to be asleep, but Janeway secretly stays awake to keep watch. She’s pretty lonely. Chakotay accidentally wakes up and finds out about it.

a) Janeway attacked with a weapon that moves her a few weeks/months into the future, but everyone else thinks she’s dead. Confusion when she just suddenly reappears.

I want everyone to know what DARVO is. I explain DARVO to people multiple times a week. Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender. Created by scholar Jennifer Freyd to describe the pattern of gaslighting abuse victims face, it applies to so much happening in politics, too

Justifying victim blaming in cases where victims have been immoral, unethical, and harmful just creates the fallacy that abuse can be denied if you just dig up or make up bad things the victim has done. We see this play out every day

in an effort to post more art, here’s an old favorite of mine… they are telling each other about their day and also are in love #kiradax #ds9 #art

a drawing of Kira and Dax from Star Trek: deep space nine. Kira is laying down with her head in Dax’s lap, Dax has her head bowed while her fingers run through Kira’s hair. they both have their eyes closed peacefully and there is a speech bubble above kira with no text, just insinuating conversation
