I just finished ”Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die” by @greerstothers.bsky.social and feel COMPELLED to sing its praises. Unique and wonderful, I can’t recommend it enough. In all the best ways, it felt like a Terry Pratchett book while still being absolutely and remarkably original.

I know it’s silly to complain about essentially a fanfic movie, but the Love Hypothesis movie was so disappointing. They removed every bit of Olive’s agency and every bit of active consent to shove in shittier plot points. Adam is effectively the main character and she’s just a lonely damsel.

I think another lesson to take from the loss of both Dolly and Tim Curry is that neither of them took themselves seriously but they took the work dead serious that's the most important thing pour all of yourself into the craft but have fun and don't get an ego.

Strange I can take. New? Sure. But weird? No way. I loved Starfleet Academy and enjoyed a lot of Discovery. SNW after the first season or so became bizarrely dull and straight and un-horny. It’s just not fun!

Narratively having Ever Given getting stuck in 2021 to set up Hormuz in 2026 is great foreshadowing. You want your audience to understand the basics of international shipping in a lower stakes context so you drop the real plot without a lot of saggy exposition about the minutiae of cargo logistics.
