You should be suspicious of any "free money" thing like this, and this one is something new to me. Even if it does actually pay I doubt it is worth it, and it's most likely the resources are not going to be used for whatever is said in that ad

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 08/10/2026

Like, the app promises payment if you allow it to use your phone's computational and network resources for some seemingly legitimate (not really) purpose, as if you'd be contributing to some large network for a good cause (so literally a botnet by definition)

100

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 08/10/2026

Why is there an ad on YouTube for a literal botnet app now, like?? It's usually either some stupid stuff like mobile games that have the dumbest advertising ever or some legitimate products that just don't interest me, but fucking malware, are we serious?

I need to do this one fr

Diagram of sleep times for last week in hours:
4:11, 5:33, 9:53, 9:01, 4:09, 3:36, 5:35

Average: 5h 59min

It's not that difficult to redo these experiments because I know what exactly I need to do now but it's still very annoying and explaining all this tomorrow will be quite embarrassing

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 28/09/2026

Spent a few days at work doing performance experiments on the project with quite horrible results, only to realize that I forgot to update the dependency (separate service running locally) and these performance issues were already mostly fixed, so my experiments are practically useless now😭

I gotta stop getting surprised at all this YouTube stuff They always come up with something unnecessary and weird like this

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 22/09/2026

WHY would YouTube ever need something like this??

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 22/09/2026

Bruh what the hell is this?!

Part of the screenshot from YouTube mobile app
"YouTube Playables
Instant games, no downloads"
- Fashion Princess - Dress Up for Girls, 20M plays
- Pizza Inc., 3.2M plays
- (some other game on the right)

They see both as poison so it kinda makes sense (for them)

010

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 02/09/2026

Ran into some weird debug build cache issue with my flutter app that actually made me question my sanity because the things in code were quite different from the widget tree I was seeing in debug tools

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 01/09/2026

I use both depending on situation. Wired are much simpler, therefore are less likely to break and are overall much more stable, they're good as a fallback

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 01/09/2026

Although the socket isn't really the headphones' problem. No charging needed is fair though, having your headphones' battery die in the most inconvenient moment is very annoying. Also some bt headphones are cool and can seamlessly switch between multiple devices, and I fucking love this feature

110

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 01/09/2026

Considering how cheap my current wireless headphones are, the last 3 points aren't really valid. "connect instantly" - not really, you have to physically connect them which creates the same or even longer delay as wireless headphones + you have to look for the phone that still has 3.5mm socket

I have been keeping my nails a bit long for a while and today decided to make them short again but now the short nails feel kinda weird and wrong lol It's fascinating how the brain adapts to things like this and at the same time how inert it is

010

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 27/08/2026

At least it's free and I didn't have to pay anything for that

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 27/08/2026

I gotta turn that off though because the calls still get through (which is annoying) and I have to ignore them, and also I already had a few false-positives with other spam call detectors, and in this case getting a false positive can be much worse

100

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 27/08/2026

So apparently my mobile operator added a feature that when they detect a spam call they can have AI helper talk instead of you and they instead send you an SMS about this happening. Funniest thing ever is that their own spam calls got caught by this system

that cities should be safer for bicycles does not in any way mean that you should not have to wear a helmet, unless bike lanes magically stop people from crashing in non car-related ways

Like, really, every single update has me fucking with the Gradle/Kotlin/etc trying to fix my android builds, and it mostly doesn't require touching any actual dart code

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 24/08/2026

I am genuinely curious how people can keep their flutter apps up to date Every single time I upgrade flutter it has some weird breaking changes that make me want to just drop the project entirely and create a new one, and copy all the dart code back

The fact that I have to clean my room every time to be able to go to bed really shows that I need more space and that I probably need to move out from my parents' place already

So glad I got to university early enough to not have any of these

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 22/08/2026

I'm pretty sure it is taught in younger grades, too, but it's still rather new, most of it was added after the beginning of "military operation" afaik. I finished school in 2021 and I did not get to see any of these things, thankfully. Even in university there was nothing like this

Yes, the number of GitHub monthly commits has grown by more than a billion since April. However, to be fair those are all from me attempting to keep my GitHub Actions working.

It is especially scary because almost no one from my team works in that office, even I don't have to, it just feels better to work from there, so I wouldn't even know who to ask to let me in

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 21/08/2026

The keycard system in my office works in such a way that you don't need to use the card to exit the office but still need it to exit the building. And it's the biggest fear of mine that I may once forget the card inside and get locked out and stuck in the hallway

Even if it does work it takes ages to get there, and a few tries for some reason. Considering that the laptop isn't very loud and I can't even hear when it's working when I'm at my workplace - I can't tell if it's sleeping or not. I only noticed it at home because it's very quiet here at night

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 20/08/2026

Is Windows 11 capable of sleep at all? It straight up refuses to do it on my work laptop I went home and left it in my bag and turns out it was working the whole time. For a few hours. In a relatively tight space. It didn't heat up too much thankfully but was still warmer than usual

101

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 17/08/2026

Maybe it's because I have way too much stuff for about 8m² (or even less) of free space in my room so it's always messy here and I also have to constantly shove half the stuff somewhere to be able to get through the place With how terrible my short-term memory is, it gets extremely frustrating

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 17/08/2026

I have some actual fucking talent of losing things. There's not a single day without me losing my phone or headphones, or something else. And it doesn't even have to be something small, it can be a bag about 20 cm in each dimension and I can still lose it somehow

110

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 17/08/2026

I guess the muted word thing is not case sensitive, because it seems that muting the word "US" has also muted the word "us" (a pronoun) which is not something I wanted

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 17/08/2026

Bikes aren't the problem. I was talking with the assumption that the situation isn't as bad and there's at least some enforcement for cars, in which case the problem is lack of similar enforcement for bikes. If there isn't any even for cars, there's a much bigger problem, I think

010

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 17/08/2026

Ofc if you actually get into an accident, and especially injure or kill someone, then yes, you will get something for it. But for general traffic rules there's no enforcement for bikes and no one cares until there's an accident

100

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 17/08/2026

Idk about your place (heard there are laws that actually enforce something for bikes in other countries) but where I live if you get caught for any of the stuff you describe, as a car driver you're gonna at least get fined (or maybe even have your license taken away). As a cyclist you'll get nothing

200

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 17/08/2026

Here in Russia, in almost any city where there is any bike infrastructure

010

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 16/08/2026

One thing that makes me really sad is that the more I witness all this the less hope I have in moving out of my country. Not because I won't be able to but because there's just not gonna be any place better

000

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 16/08/2026

Ngl I gotta mute all the stuff related to the US and UK and all the horrible things happening there. Not only do these cause a huge distress in me but they also distract me from doing my everyday stuff and from noticing local issues which somehow don't look nearly as bad in comparison

100

MadKris @madkris.fyi · 15/08/2026

I want to go get my hair cut but just cutting like 10-15cm is boring af, yet I have no idea what else I want to do with it
