If he's going to get a national profile on the strength of a younger woman's campaign, I'm going to come out and say it: during his short-lived tenure as a math professor, Biss had an inappropriate romantic relationship with one of his undergraduate students. I was that student.

Both of my senators, @markwarner.bsky.social and @kaine.senate.gov , have voted to confirm 6 and 8 members of Trump's cabinet respectively. There was no strategic rationale for doing so. Virginia is a mostly safe Dem state. There's no plausible explanation other than they support Trump's agenda.

Please look toward local and worker owned media sources. They are far more responsive to readers and you can be sure they are not being directed to be mouthpieces by billionaires Ex: @51st.news @mississippifreepress.org If there's not one in your area that could be something to organize around

Pretty sure now that Warner and Kaine both wanted to vote Yes, but this was carefully orchestrated to allow them to put up fake resistance and not have to face the several hundred thousand federal workers that would have put their heads on a pike.

Every senator up in 2026 except those who are not running for office again ended up voting no. That's no accident. They will pretend they didn't want this result. But they didn't object to unanimous consent. They are just as guilty. Start joining local dems, lay groundwork for primarying them
000
Alda @macfeegle.bsky.social · 15/03/2025
Important to note that this makes every single dem senator complicit. Any one of them could have objected to unanimous consent and stalled things, at least a little. So even those who voted no should be primaried. They allowed this to happen as much as those who voted yes.

what the FUCK @schumer.senate.gov
“I’ve said through my career in politics, the higher up you go, the more fiercely the winds blow,” Schumer said in an interview. “This is a time when they are blowing fiercely. But if you have an eternal gyroscope and do what you believe is the right thing, you ultimately succeed.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/03/14/senate-democrats-government-shutdown-cr/“That’s far more effective than arguing back and forth who’s the cause of a shutdown,” Mr. Schumer said, adding: “My internal gyroscope tells me I’m right.”

I have to say: Chuck Schumer is a weak man and a fool. This was the one cudgel Dems had. Now it's up to the courts which we new from the beginning were at best going to slow some things down. There's 18 hours left to somehow bring additional pressure to bear. It will be really hard to do that.
