Not sure that's correct. I used to spend time in warehouses watching how they worked before I created the software they requested, because not everything works like you'd imagine, and grasping reality requires a person in place to understand it.

Incredible is a great word to use. I remain incredulous. I wrote machine code back in the 80s. There is no way of turning an adding machine into an intellect. You can make it convincing enough to a species that suffers from being able to see faces is clouds, without it actually being one.

I have played with it. I was a programmer before covid robbed me of my ability to visualise data structures in my head properly. That it's accepted it is approximating things seems far from ideal if you've been involved in coding for critical applications,

I'm happy to still voice that position. You can't turn a calculating machine into an intellect, it's not within their capacity I still find the whole concept ludicrous. Machine learning is constrained by the quality of the training dataset.
