i LOVE when a new jwst and hubble image drop on the same day

A close-in image of a protoplanetary disc around a newly formed star. Many different wavelengths of light are combined and represented by separate and various colors. A dark line across the center is the disc, made of opaque dust: the star is hidden in here and creates a strong glow in the center. A band going straight up is a jet, while other outflows form flares above and below the disc, and a tail coming off to one side.

A large galaxy is at center, and a significantly smaller galaxy is to its left. The large galaxy is mostly face-on, but the top appears slightly tilted away. It has several rings. Its circular core is bright white at the very center, but light yellow overall. Going outward, there are gaps between the rings. The core is surrounded by two slightly lighter yellow rings, which also appear to be overlapping. The next ring is slightly more transparent and yellow. The two or three rings that are farther out are bluer, sometimes with blue clumps. The widest ring is also blue, but also the most transparent. At 9 o’clock is a small dwarf galaxy. It is about the same size as the yellow core of the Bullseye. The dwarf galaxy is blue, with many dots. It looks like the edge of the Bullseye might touch the dwarf galaxy. Both galaxies are set on the black background of space, which is dotted with a range of galaxies in different shapes, colors, and sizes, along with one foreground star at left.

NEW HUBBLE IMAGE SHOWING A SUPERNOVA IN A GALAXY 600 MILLION LIGHT-YEARS AWAY!!! 🌌

In the exact center a supernova is visible as a small but bright blue dot. It lies atop the outer disk of a hazy-looking galaxy, which has a somewhat warped shape. Around this are a number of minor galaxies visible as glowing disks, and some points of light that are stars near to us, on a black background. A few bright stars hold X-shaped spikes that are optical artifacts from the telescope.

Tomorrow's NASA Astronomy Picture Of the Day (APOD): Wolf-Rayet star WR 140. Every shell is racing away from the stars at more than 2600 kilometers per second, almost 1% the speed of light. 🔭 🧪

The image shows a bright white point of light surrounded by 17 regularly spaced, hazy dust shells at the bottom, right, and upper right, which look like tree rings. There is noticeably less color in the upper left. The central point, where the two stars are located, has a roughly hexagonal shape.

A nebula made up of cloudy gas and dust in the form of soft and wispy clouds and, in the center, thin and highly detailed layers pressed close together. Large, bright stars surrounded by six long points of light are dotted over the image, as well as some small, point-like stars embedded in the clouds. The clouds are lit up in blue close to the stars; orange colors show clouds that glow in infrared light.

A star cluster is shown inside a large nebula of many-coloured gas and dust. A spiral galaxy with a wide, oval-shaped disc. It has a shining spot at the centre from which two curving, pale red spiral arms emerge, wrapping once each around the galaxy. They’re surrounded by a whirl of bright threads and patches of dust, with spots of star formation scattered throughout. The glow of the disc fades smoothly into the background where some patches of dust can be seen, as well as foreground stars.
