Bradford has been my councillor for the past two terms & I can confirm that this is an accurate portrayal. He's a cipher of a man whose only core belief is in his own ambition. But he's also a terrible local representative (as anyone who's contacted his office or read his newsletters can confirm).

The Yiddish DID survive. Human beings kept it alive, & are STILL NEEDED to understand it! Unfortunately, because people perceive AI as magic, the experts who have this knowledge are losing their jobs, & we aren’t training a new generation to replace them. I can only hope the bubble pops soon.

Younger child's headcanon for their blanket so far: the dragon is vegetarian and eats the plants from the ruined city; the skull with the flame in its eye is full of owls; there is a community of people living secretly on the volcano island but nobody knows about them except the lizard.

Best purchase of the art fair this year: definitely these blankets/playmats by @portablecity.bsky.social. I would have adored these as a child, and I'm glad my children get to adore them now <3

Okay so it's a thin soft blanket with a fantasy illustration of a tower on it. The front of the tower is cut away so you can see inside, and it's full of wizards. Each storey of the tower houses a different wizard with a different vibe (my favourite is the plant wizard). It's super detailed and fun to pore over.

A smaller soft blanket with a fantasy illustration of seven islands on it (plus small part of mainland). A 3D-printed dragon is hanging out on one of the islands.
