It's important people understand this, but it's a red herring. Hypnosis is targeted because OPTICALLY it LOOKS like nonconsent, which makes it the perfect "fringe" target for conservatives to pressure payment processors to ban, with the ultimate goal of banning ALL porn, and queer/trans expression.

The religious right is steadily expanding its definition of what is sexual — and restricting what it deems acceptable in public spaces. Tech companies, in want of less oversight, are taking the hint. The deplatforming that started with sex workers / kink / trans has come for gay bars.

Text that goes as followed:

"Hi, i know this isn't an art post but please check this out real quick, it's really important to me:

The political state of Brazil is really scary right now, like really scary, constitutional change levels of scary. I've been trying my best to hold onto hope (after all, that's how the queers have survived, on basis of hope and spite), but i really don't know what's gonna happen, i'm genuinely terrified;

I'm going to keep on posting my art, on working on bringing nice drawings not only here but in my main account, the thing is that i'm an artist who draws a lot of queer characters and I don't know what could happen to me or to other brazilian artists;

I want you guys to remember that a big portion of your favorite queer artists are brazilian, even those who speak english. Keep an eye on your favorite artists, this might look like an exaggeration but it's really not. Support artists financially (especially if you are outside of Brazil), support artists with your attention and your sharing, and most importantly DON'T TAKE AN EYE OUT OF THE ARTISTS YOU ENJOY. If an artist disappears for way too long and it doesn't seen to align with their usual behavior, BE AWARE.

They're counting on you to be unaware of the events going, Brazil has been through a military dictatorship once, do not allow yourself to be unaware. Fight for your brazilian friends and your favorite brazilian artists, ESPECIALLY THOSE IN MINORITY GROUPS!

Support your loved ones, stay aware, and most importantly: do not stop being creative, even in times like these. Art will always be resistance (yes, even your silly queer ship art), that's why people are scared of artists."
