Screenshot of an info page (chatcontrol.eu) warning about “Chat Control 2.0.” A highlighted line says a potentially final and decisive trilogue takes place on Tuesday, 29 September. It warns EU governments want “search plans” to scan “parts of a service” (e.g., all group chats or all EU users), effectively mass scanning of private chats. It cites that the Council’s own Legal Service warned this could be “general and indiscriminate” and likely illegal. It also warns about keeping the “voluntary” Chat Control 1.0 as a loophole, mentioning high false positives and cases affecting minors.
