This kind of thing was a genuine risk for gay men back when I first became a private practice therapist, except that it was "meeting strangers through the personals" and "meeting strangers via Craigslist" rather than via apps. It's disturbing as hell, but not new.

I don't like "Your first draft will be shitty" as advice, because it's a really negative framing. I prefer, "You have the freedom to be messy creating your first draft." Anyone crafter knows what their room looks like mid-creation. Writers should be as free to be as exhuberent and messy.

On a similar note, "your first sketch/idea is never your best" is one of the worst pieces of advice I've ever gotten. I wasted a lot of time and energy forcing myself past concepts that I felt strongly about because I was made to believe a better one was out there. Often there just wasn't one.

Setting aside the biblical implications for a sec, if you buy one of these, on the road or now parked, you're a danger to everyone around you. And these are street legal in the US because the rich guy can buy his way out of regulations. Incredibly stupid country.

That was nearly fifty years ago, and I have never seen indigo again

Digital illustration of a person looking at a painting on a wall as they walk past. The painting has a woman standing in a windswept grassy field under a deep indigo night sky. There are two soft orange moons above the scene.

QRT with the piece you’re proudest of for 2024 🥂 I can’t really show the piece I’m proudest of for this year yet (maybe late 2025 / early 2026 👀) but this one is a veeery close second. I wanted to challenge myself to draw a more complex illustration 100% traditionally and I love how it turned out.

Illustration of a winter scene. We see a little girl who has climbed on a wooden fence, handing a red apple to a smiling darker colored foal. The foal is coming nearer, sniffing the apple. There are two other foals behind it, one light brown and one beige, looking at it in shock, afraid to get closer to the girl

For Christmas I've finished up my take on #PrismDTIYS hosted by @prismagic.bsky.social! Took a few liberties as I wanted to keep the focus on the values and colors, hope you like it! 🎄

Drawing of a six winged angel with a halo being pierced through the chest with a golden sword. The hole in the chest is heart shaped with a crystal formation around it.
