Video games are so cool and neat. Has anyone ever thought this before?? I think I may be the first to notice.

I'd also wonder if the success is partly the accessibility angle. Would 99% of people ever be able to afford materials and to make mistakes in making a opulent ball gown? Would anyone ever wear it? Its so cool that video games allow people to do stuff for fun and for cheap!

Typically looking at federal transportation policy is staring into the void, but recently its been less the void and more an interdimensional portal to the layer of hell where everything is stupid

Tweed is such a beautiful fabric to wear this time of year because it produces, in Dolly Parton's phrasing, a coat of many colors. Even a solid-colored brown is not just brown, but bits of red, blue, and yellow to produce something that looks lifted off the Scottish landscape.
There are two photos taped together. The top shows a brown stone building with a brown thatched roof. It's surrounded by green grass, stone walkways, and blue-gray sea. Below is a checked brown tweed that reflects the colors in the landscape above it. There are two photos taped together. The one at te top shows a rocky hillside with green and straw-colored grass, gray rocks, and a tan sandy beach below. The blue waters are crashing at the shore. Below is a green herringbone tweed that reflects the colors in the landscape above it. There are two photos taped together. The top shows a field of green and straw colored fields with bits of purple flowers. Below is a a series of checked brown tweed that reflect the colors in the landscape above it. A swatch book of solid-colored tweeds. The green tweed has visible flecks of red, gold, and blue.

The years-long joke has been, "me at my silly little email job while the world is falling apart." Eventually, after long enough, we'll really start to see people take that its logical conclusion

⚠️ Albuquerque is now included in today’s Moderate Risk for excessive rainfall. The risk expands across much of New Mexico Tuesday, when the most widespread heavy rain and flash flooding is expected. Life-threatening flash flooding is possible. #NMwx

The more radical the politics and the more standoffish the barista, the better the coffee, frankly. In ABQ, Slow Burn has the best coffee in the city and all the baristas know they're better than you. Just how it goes

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.
A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:
Forget ChatGPT Flyers
Say it with
Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase
Pointing hands
(They're called manicules!)
Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

I'm sure its only temporary because snowpack is the real juice for a river, but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't warm the heart after like 2 months of it being dry

Me, I just want to see nice looking buildings for their own sake, I don't delude myself into thinking everyone is going to suddenly love that there's a new building because its pretty. Also pretty is subjective and not a good foundation for a coalition

I have personal beef with the guy after he wrote a half-baked article about the ABQ BRT that was just riddled with errors and the solutions and conclusions didn't match at all what he though the "issues" were. Same thing with this article here, really.

He does seem hell-bent on the idea that if everyone was a small scale developer all of our issues would be solved. Its funny he takes shots at libertarians in the piece despite always seeming to come off as one himself.

Does this hold for extremely economically depressed households making ~30% AMI? Chuck seems to think that casitas will solve that issue, but I struggle with solutions beyond gov't subsidy when you start looking below 50%. Maybe labor reform and unions or something, but its a bit tangential

Qinghai-Tibet railway exists over 4,500 m above sea level. It crosses many areas with permafrost which thaws and freezes constantly, causing foundation issues for anything built on top. The railway has radiator sticks that cool the soil under so it is always frozen and stable.

The Emma Frost x Miss Piggy comic has hit the internet and it's so, so, so much more magnificent than I ever could have hoped for
Emma Frost: "Emma Frost, darling. I'm a telepath. May I read your mind to ascertain if you're telling the truth?"

Miss Piggy: "But of course, darling I am an open book, a tell-all memoir."Emma Frost telepathically witnessing the entirety of Miss Piggy's life.Wolverine: "Frost? She legit?"
Emma Frost: "She's..She's... She's everything. And I would die for her."

The Alvarado Transit Center in ABQ has to be my pick. It doesn't feature as many defining features of Pueblo/Adobe style, but it still seamlessly blends into the wider southwest style. Bonus points for a clock tower and more bonus points for Spanish tiles. Triple points for being a transit building.
Picture of the Alvarado Transit building in ABQ from First and Central. Prominently viewable is the clock tower on the corner. An overhead view of the Greyhound area of the Alvarado Transit Center. It has a big plaza and the building is helpfully labeled "Albuquerque." Lots of arches and Spanish tiles.

Imperialism never stopped being the goal abroad, and domestic policy and foreign policy have never had the same ideological bent. Glad its being aired out clearly, but bleak to see there's no compunction about saying the quiet part out loud.
