How does the American partisan divide influence support for Ukraine? In POQ, Rudolph finds that support for Ukraine among Republicans is lower than among Democrats, and support among conservative Republicans is particularly cost-averse. Read now: doi.org/10.1093/poq/...

Within-study validations of survey experiments are rare. I show hypothetical treatments can correspond to comparable real-world evidence, indicating respondents know their potential outcomes. Intent-behavior gaps complicate generalizability. Out in @jepsjournal.bsky.social at doi.org/10.1017/XPS....

Out @thejop.bsky.social: measuring shocks like weather or immigrant exposure has vast researcher degrees of freedom. We (@phanxi.bsky.social) show: equally plausible measures diverge + yield spurious results. So, investigate the full set. For us, a null for climate opinion www.doi.org/10.1086/735706

Now out in @poqjournal.bsky.social: I show that both Democrats and (even strong) Republicans care relevantly about Ukraine's defense - indicating low polarization once citizens consider trade-offs in foreign policy, tying the hands of the current administration to the extent it counts the public in.
