I saw Jens once at Northampton HS. A student there lost her legs in a car accident. Jens was her favorite artist. She asked if he’d play a show to help raise money to cover her medical bills. He did! He brought an iPod, aux cord, and acoustic guitar. It was AWESOME.

Heading into my sophomore season, a coach friend brought my brother and me to Bedford, MA to do a training session with Burdenko. It was the most unassuming atmosphere. His office was filled w photos from figure skaters and ballerinas. We did the workout. Half water, half land. No weights….

If you’re interested in low impact, highly effective functional training, I recommend looking into Igor Burdenko’s methods. Works if you’re a pro athlete or just an old shit poster on Bluesky.

My coaches did not like that they couldn’t quantify the work in archaic ways. Fortunately, I was able to say “I’m training with an NBA player all summer, trust it.” One of my teammates (who made it to the NBA), joined me for Lion one day and he literally had to lie down on the trail halfway up.

Light shooting workouts sprinkled in, but not endless reps (15ish min of focused/gamified shooting)… previous summers, was doing ruthless track workouts, heavy lifting, intense individual on court work, and pick up daily.
