The 6-11 demographic these networks served still exists and is still interested in cartoons (see Digital Circus), but they have migrated from cable to YouTube and probably aren’t coming back. Nick/CN never knew how to adapt and thus now are like the Blockbuster to Netflix.

RIP Peter Byrne, 1/2 of Naked Eyes alongside the late Rob Fisher. Very surreal to me to think that one of the many british new wave duos are now just gone. Their song “I Could Show You How” is imo one of the best synth tracks of the 80s as a whole and deserves much more play.

#CDFriday with Haircut One Hundred and their pretty new album, Boxing the Compass. Not only their third album overall, but also their first in 42 years since Paint the Paint. They still are a funk/soul/jazzy band, but they have evolved and matured, making for a fresh album that is a great listen.

Art Davis was another incredibly talented director at WB who never got the chance to shine more as his unit got the axe due to studio budget issues. Art had been in the biz since the silent era and was a pro at fast paced gags and fluidity, as seen here in Catch as Cats Can.
