A moment to reflect.

Ten years ago today, we shared the first CPSC meme.

I thought I'd be in for a sensible three or four years at CPSC. Job hopping to make more money was the norm at the time. Then, I heard the words of parents who'd lost children in product safety incidents. Almost all of them said the same thing: "If I had known about this hazard, I would have done something to protect my child."

And then, there you are - the person who hears those words from too many parents and every day gets to put your skills to good use to do something about it. How do you walk away from that mission? Where do you go from social media content that saves lives? I still don't know.

In the meantime, I've had the honor of flying our social to the edges of the atmosphere. Hull bending. Warning lights blinking. Cats, dogs, and birds talking safety in meme form across the internet.

Thank you to every leader, supervisor, and colleague who has allowed me to take our social media to unexpected places near and far. It's not easy to say yes to this kind of work, but you always have.

A decade in, it remains a privilege to serve the American people and I am grateful every day for the opportunity.
