As a surprise to absolutely nobody who is paying attention, the MAHA movement weaponized our inability to apply skepticism or critical thinking to all the woo, bonkers claims about medicine & food over the last 40+ years. See also, vaccine denial & the less-obviously harmful supplement industry.

The bad news is that the local arts fest is canceled due to the pending nor’easter. Good news is that it is perfect weather for Terrothon 4 at the Hiway. The Gate, Bride of Frankenstein and Haxan, among others. With luck, they’ll sell beer from Human Robot next door. #weekend

Is there some kind of map out there depicting all the AI factions? One axis must depict an insanity curve with one end a LiveJournalist turned tech eschatologist & the other end some code monkey who has been really good at using LLMs to innovate new types of hot sauce, favoring flavor over heart.

Ugh, I've heard rumors this was coming. The Academy holds a dear place in my heart, and it desperately needs to update exhibits. I love the history there; I'm a huge Leidy fan. Moreover, Philly is a post-industrial river town & the Academy should be a vocal watchdog for the environment.

Hey #bikesky, what do we know about school programs for bike education/safety? I'm seeing more and more kids on bikes in my wee borough, and I want to see what we can do to step that up and make it safer. (The other part of that equation is bike infrastructure in town).

I remember being so excited about the emergence of e-readers 20 years or so ago -- all of my books at my fingertips! My kids, 18 & 21, detest e-readers and insist on print-only, which they consume voraciously. Wait until they're out of school and moving every six months for a few years.

Republicans & their MAHA proxies are pushing hard on the measles deaths in PA since they think it hurts Shapiro. Does anyone else think they are also trying to deny the infant death because it runs counter to the eugenic notion that only the sick and elderly die from infectious disease?

Why are we so insistent on humanoid robots? What we want: a little R2D2 to do some light maintenance and fetch us cocktails. What we get: scary humanoids that will definitely be used to kill people some day.

On the one hand, some people want to make it so that kids and other people aren't crushed to death by cars. On the other hand, some people are upset that they might have to pay attention, slow down or be inconvenienced by about 15 seconds. So you can see how it's a "war on cars."
