As a postdoc, I got an email from the chair of a search committee, wanting to speak. It's my first time on the job market & I'm nervous/excited. We talk and they tell me that they think I'd be a much better fit for Dr. So-and-so's group. Me: "Is he hiring?" Them: "Well, no." Great talk. 👍

Everyone concerned about data loss right now should learn about the End of Term Web Archive, which I believe has been working on preserving federal websites for the past 8 months. The dataset you fear has been lost may well be here Just an incredible project. Thank you to everyone involved

Some variation based on study. In studies where only very low nic cigs were available, you see reductions in CPD, some increased quitting. This one (w/ noncombusted access) shows uptake of noncombusted products + fewer CPD and more smoke-free days (www.thelancet.com/journals/lan....

Clinical trials data show that if you reduce nicotine to a low enough level, it's essentially impossible to smoke enough cigs to get the amt of nicotine that smokers are looking for. You see initial compensatory smoking, but it doesn't last long and they give up on it, and then you see reductions.
