Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 22/09/2026The 13" from about a year ago. Just any light pages looks quite low contrast to the point where it's a bit hard to read. Some of this will be that I'm used to the glossy macbook screen, it does seem a bit much. 000
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 20/09/2026That's interesting. My issue was that it felt closer to non-tiling WMs in some ways, while the (imo) even more tiling-y approach of i3 was always my jam. 110
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 20/09/2026I think I'm having colour calibration problems with both of them though? idk maybe this matte framework display is just not what I'm used to now, but light mode pages look oddly washed out and slightly hard to read. Applying a colour profile didn't seem to do anything? idk, I'm out of my depth. 111
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 20/09/2026idk something about the scrolling just wasn't as easy for my brain to keep track of as I had hoped. Maybe it's because I used i3 for years back in the day, but Sway felt really comfortable for me. I do miss Niri's cool animations though. Super snazzy. 210
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 17/09/2026I think I've decided to go back to sway, I couldn't get the feel for niri's navigation 200

Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 31/08/2026Giving $300,000 to the world's most well funded collection of Arch Linux dotfiles is a really odd decision, and that's before the politics of the project. 41073
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 26/08/2026Yee. Maybe the first signs that DHH has some distasteful opinions. He was enthusiastically defending pornographic imagery at Ruby conferences 040
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 24/08/2026Is this him complaining that projects have a code of conduct? 2750
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 24/08/2026I've been thinking that same recently. Maybe I should adopt 1FA with bitwarden 000
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 24/08/2026that's really neat! I might use this. Did you pick any particular app to migrate to btw? 100
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 24/08/2026Thanks! Blows my mind a bit that folks can think that 8 million is peanuts for open source projects. 021
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 22/08/2026@willow.sh What are you using with niri? Your setup looked really nice 100

Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 17/08/2026Yeah the messaging is rather unclear. Big corporations all a bit too invested in AI and the image of AI atm. There was modules on securing AI (tl;dr, never trust AI), and while conceptually interesting it wasn't relevant to Gleam at all. 120
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 17/08/2026I completely agree! I think what the industry is doing is completely immoral. Gleam does not use AI or accept AI contributions. The program is about security and included training on how to secure AI systems, which isn't relevant to Gleam. Gleam being in the program doesn't link it to AI in any way 141
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 17/08/2026It was a security program, it had nothing to do with AI software development. Gleam does not accept AI contributions and we don't use AI. 240
Louis Pilfold @lpil.uk · 14/08/2026lol I wish. It's enough to pay the bills for less than two months, before tax 010
