Today marks the public launch of the Ubisoft Workers of Montreal (UWM) campaign, with a first action: a petition to preserve hybrid work. Every Ubisoft Montreal employee is invited to sign the petition and every supporter encouraged to reach out to their network to encourage them to sign!

I put a haiku in this one. I'm the marketing manager, and that means I get to put a haiku in the short form vertical content. I can do that sometimes, as a treat. Our demo comes out OCTOBER 8TH! That's NEXT THURSDAY! #gamedev #indiegamedev #gaming #videogames

I had a hard time continuing with the game once it felt like I had seen the shape of the game. After the tutorial and dismantling some reactors, does the game expand much more?

The worst part about twitter is there are a number of people who think they have to be active there who are left-leaning but have had their brains absolutely cooked by the site. You can't inundate yourself in exposure to that stuff without it having an impact on you.

Data centers promise jobs but hire few people That's why I propose a law that every data center must hire 1,000 Priests of Data to worship the computers, pray to the servers, light candles, etc. The priests will boost the local economy and fill the air with the sweet sound of their Gregorian chants

there's a great interview with a developer on Civ where they said, paraphrased, "a feature should never be the computer having fun instead of the player" and I think about this every time I'm working on procgen. It's often a strong argument to expose more of what you're doing.

We are at the break glass moment on the Democratic Party and its treatment of transgender people, and it is my opinion that if we don’t act now and loudly demand to be heard, we will suffer the consequences of their shift.

In retrospect, Obsidian getting Pentiment out there into the world before Microsoft exploded really feels like they pulled off the weirdest heist in gaming history.

I played dd1 right before dd2 came out. It immediately became one of my top 10 games of all time. It’s a bit weirder and clunkier than the sequel but is also really charming

I think the game also has multiple (unlabeled?) points of no return and is pretty mean in the endgame! A lot like the original for sure

The way the first Dragon’s Dogma does this is cute (though admittedly a lot more grandiose) It also makes me think of “bones” in roguelikes like NetHack which I also liked.

It’s also important that this is a backup system that I have had to actually restore from more than once! Most people do backups and then never see the restore UX. With Restic, it’s actually good!

Seconding Restic + Backblaze. I set up a cron job ages ago on every PC. I get a bill for $2 every couple months, it’s wonderful. Encrypted, fast, easy to restore and search, well-supported and forward compatible.

We were watching the Wolverine Sentinel footage, and... We used to call these "high chair boss battles" because the boss looks like a baby in a high chair and you're on their tray. Now you have to see it, too 😅

screenshot from the new Wolverine game with him battling a giant Sentinel. Wolverine is on a platform that comes up to the sentinel's waist. The sentinel hands can come to rest on the platform.

A mock bad photoshop of Wolverine in the same pose from the trailer shooped into a stock image of a large baby boy sitting in a high chair and crying. Wolverine is standing on the high chair tray in a similar angle and presentation to the previous game trailer screenshot
