Inside you there are two wolves. One is active, the other one is on hot standby and becomes active if the first one fails or is taken down for maintenance. Add more wolves as necessary for increased redundancy load balancing. A quorum badger can be added for environments with multiple active wolves.

It is really hard to watch people willfully tear down an infrastructure that allowed us to double lifespans, drastically reduce poverty, and become one of the richest countries in the world.

Sorry, but I really hope people who love THE WILD ROBOT movie know it was inspired by my book. It's mentioned in the credits but most people don't read that stuff. If you love the movie you should check out the book! There's more to the story and it's a quick read.

I've completed "Code Chronicle" - Day 25 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/25 My completionist side is happy, 500 stars! This was a fun year. Days 17, 21, and 24 were all especially nice challenges

A screen shot of my Advent Of Code events page that show that I have 500 starts (which means I've completed all 10 years)

I'm doing a lot of technical analysis these days and nothing raises red flags higher than the overuse of buzzwords to explain commodity technologies. Boring technologies that just work are exciting. It means your customers can buy your product and move on to something else. Focus on that.

I've completed "Plutonian Pebbles" - Day 11 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/11 What happens when you over-engineer part 1 of your solution: part 2 goes really quickly and your rank improves a lot.

Scores from Advent Of Code, showing on day 11 that part 1 took 8:59 (and ranked 1897), but part 2 was done by 9:40 and the rank was down to 300.

I just completed "Disk Fragmenter" - Day 9 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/9 Top 1000 for the first time this year. Part 2 was running slow, so I got up to get a drink and think about how to make it faster, and when I got back it was done. Still, I should improve it.

Some lawyers would argue that you should get started BEFORE the $83.3 million verdict and possibly even before trial.

I had resolved last New Year's Day to build my bunker for riding out the Apocalypse, but after shopping around in 2023 for a bunker plan that fit my budget, I've decided that in 2024 I will generously cast my lot with the rest of humanity.

They probably should teach you about mug shots at Wharton tbh

Tweet from CNN reporter Kate Sullivan:

Trump just called into Newsmax and said it was a "terrible experience" being at the Fulton County jail but he was "treated very nicely."
"It is what it is. I took a mug shot, which I'd never heard the words 'mug shot,' they didn't teach me that at the Wharton school of finance."

It seems a reasonable counterpoint to any sales pitch from a tech company selling remote work or collaboration software is to simply email them the headlines about their return to office policy.

Took a hike in Olympic National Forest today. One dead tree across a stream was supporting several young trees. Life will find a way.
