One thing to know is that 988 is not just for those with suicidal ideation, but also if you have a friend who is struggling or if someone you care about died by suicide and you need someone to talk to. I sadly had to use 988 recently for the latter. They were a calming presence at an awful time.

So I just realized one of the reasons I’m obsessed with “Per Sempre Si” (and feeling protective about it) is because most of my family is south Philly Italians. This type of music was being played at every wedding or big family event I went to as a kid. There’s def. a nostalgia element.

Getting on my soap box for a minute. I see people saying “Per sempre si” is “dated.” It’s classic tbh. And that sound has worked its way into a lot of modern music. The gripe people have with Sal is that his song leans more heavily into it. Which…of course it does. He’s a 56 year old man.
