Are robotaxis really "green"? - "They're EVs!" Sure, but cars can go electric w/o autonomy. - "They'll be shared!" Doubtful. Shared ridehail has fizzled. - "They'll boost transit!" Ridehail made the same claim. Nope. In fact, AVs could worsen the environment by inducing much more driving.

It's rural areas, not big cities, that most need AVs. "How do you push [robotaxi] companies to get into the places where society would value their presence? As opposed to Lower Manhattan, which is very lucrative for a Waymo or Zoox but would be a disaster if that becomes a dominant way to travel."

I'll get some flak for this, but IMO the Abundance transit stuff is a dangerous distraction. Portland, the Bay Area, Miami etc face draconian service cuts that would drive away riders— for good. If that happens "I don't really care how much a [new] bus costs because you'll have nobody riding it."

This whole episode is really good! Yes, increase frequency and destinations where women and families go (not just the zoo but that’s a good start I guess.) Also address harassment!! Safety - perceived and real - is a major factor in how women travel. Leslie Kern’s work on this is excellent.
