Most of us have used Global Positioning System (GPS) for navigation & we can thank Gladys West for creating the foundation for GPS. She used her mathematical & programming expertise to invent an accurate model of the Earth. She was inducted into the US Air Force Hall of Fame.

Sidenote: The Administration is claiming the cuts to indirect funds in NIH grants will "save $4B" Except every dollar NIH gives out nets back more than $2. So they're in fact losing us >$4B Even ignoring the research/education/training/progress effects of cuts cross-the-board cuts like this.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research. I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
