Les Orchard @lmorchard.com · 17/09/2026Like, you remember all those TV commercials for drinking milk and eating cheese? Picture that, except taken to AI levels of hype. Les Orchard @lmorchard.com · 11/09/2026Really wish there was an easier way to "view source" on the whole literal context that harnesses send to models. Started building my own harness just to understand it all better. Really demystifies the whole "where did that come from" - like, oh yeah, from the cheat sheet pasted into the context. 280 8

Les Orchard @lmorchard.com · 14/07/2026The way it was explained to me - by a psych professor in the 90s, thus the APA guide in my brain - is that it stops being a simple list when items are longer than 1-2 words or the list is greater than 4-7 items. Different brains use working memory differently and need punctuation help for chunking 010 1
Les Orchard @lmorchard.com · 14/07/2026Now that I got an actual look at a recent edition of the AP stylebook, this is what I mean. And folks here are saying there is room for confusion & misinterpretation. 100 1
Les Orchard @lmorchard.com · 14/07/2026I don't have a copy of it on hand anymore, but IIRC even the AP stylebook recommends using a comma in a list of complex items like this. That said, lots of us had the Oxford comma drilled into us by the APA stylebook. So, even stylebooks disagree www.righttouchediting.com/2024/10/03/a...righttouchediting.comAP Style and the Serial Comma - Erin BrennerIt's well-known that the AP Stylebook rules omit the serial comma, however, there are some lesser-known but important exceptions that help avoid confusion. 110 1
