Yeah, and there was no improvement in economic productivity

I've been able to do things in a day by giving Claude context files that I wouldn't have figured out in a week. But then again, I still haven't figured them out. They just got shipped with a test suite.

I've realized the dev world had a division I didn't notice until LLMs took over. Some of us are thrilled to have the ability to do more, deploy more, build more. And some of us feel this comic deeply: www.reddit.com/r/comics/com...

Trump’s deal with Putin is illegal. In 2022, the US Congresses passed the Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act, explicitly prohibiting the import of russian energy resources into the United States. Legally, Trump is not allowed to make a deal with Putin.

Matthew ran in his final home cross country meet, and he dominated the JV field, winning it by 12 seconds with a 17:28. It's just 2 seconds off his season best and over 40s better than at this meet last year. It was also senior recognition day. live.brrm.com/meets/75283/...

RUSSIA TARGETED A BUS FULL OF CIVILIANS AND MULTIPLE APARTMENT COMPLEXES THIS WEEK ALONE. Maybe the ingrate is the guy who made the decision to fund that terrorism by purchasing oil in a last ditch attempt to boost his poll numbers?

Emphasizing: people I am speaking to are strong and have tremendous spirit. But they have been devastated. They mostly entered the U.S. legally, worked for several years, were detained (frequently illegally), arbitrarily deprived or denied status, treated brutally, and dropped here with nothing.

I appreciate that Dem silence on what they will do if we flip Congress might be sound electoral strategy ("when your opponent is making a mistake don't interrupt them"), but... I really wish they were promising _anything_ we could pin them to. Hearings? Impeachments? Gov't shutdowns? Who knows?

As completely deranged and fucked up and wrong as he is, I gotta say it is stressful to have the damn president of the United States constantly attacking my state of Minnesota, sending violence, calling for violence, putting all lives at risk, killing our neighbors. Like it really takes a toll.

This new Sherrod Brown ad debunks a anti trans ad while tying the Republican senate candidate to Jeffrey Epstein. THIS is how you fight back against anti trans ads.

I watched a couple seasons of the original. Good production values and occasionally titillating plots to undergird the story that rich white men are noble and should be able to rule their land, their worker/slaves, and their women with no interference from anything as trivial as homicide laws.

It is uncontroversial that positive technologies have some negative impacts, going back to… oh, say, the wheel. The problem is in the balance. LLMs offer very little positive (not nothing, but little), and have vast, incalculable externalities.

A year ago, @propublica.org told you immigration agents had detained more than 170 U.S. citizens. We’ve updated our count, and we’ve got all the receipts. The tally: At least 506 citizens detained. Sometimes held at gunpoint, handcuffed, or even deported. projects.propublica.org/american-cit...

The government doesn’t track how often immigration officers detain U.S. citizens. So ProPublica did. We’ve found more than 500 Americans who were held against their will during this Trump administrati...

How nice for them. Next question: which act of Congress authorized this expenditure of federal funds? Quaint it may be, but our constitution forbids drawing funds from the treasury except pursuant to acts of congress.

I’m guessing the correlation between: • “I’m tough on crime! Lock up that young Black man (aged 14) selling drugs!” and • “Wasn‘t an essay enough punishment for those poor young boys (aged 18+) at Cornell?” is close to 1.00000. In case anyone still thinks “tough on crime” is abt … crime.

When I toured a college in 12th grade, they pointed to Frat Row and asked if anyone knew they wanted to be Greek. Then they asked if anyone knew they _weren't_ going Greek, and I shot my hand up. My mom asked why - "I don't need to buy friends." I hope my 12th grader will feel the same.

This reminds me of another phenomenon I've seen: people who could never be bothered to keep a readme file up-to-date to onboard new human co-workers are fanatical about keeping agents.md or claude.md up-to-date for the convenience of bots.

He repeated his accusation on a podcast afterwards. So, he theoretically could be used for defamation for the false claims outside of chambers.
