Was just about to say “I did a quick Google…” and then realised that there’s no such thing as a quick Google any more, every search carries the cognitive overhead of interpreting the AIs nonsense.

Don’t label me, bro!
An unused sticky label for a 3.5 inch floppy disk. Printed in purple on white, it has “No Protect” and “Protect” at top right and horizontal lines and spaces for a description of the disk’s contents. These user-focused design elements could be unlocked using most everyday writing implements.

Wow. IP numbering for a street...
A rectangular white sign with a black border is mounted horizontally on a red brick wall, directly underneath a wooden structure. The left side of the sign features smaller, all-caps text arranged in two stacked lines that reads "LEADING" over "TO NOS".To the right of this text, the numbers "247, 249, 251 & 253" are printed in a much larger, bold black font.

Arguably though it was Gordon Brown's decision in the first week to let the BoE set interest rates that set politicians up for gradually losing the power to be able to make such radical changes in future. They asked us to trust them and then showed that they didn't trust themselves.

I was 32 and can reassure you that it wasn't just schoolkids who were hopeful :) I was lucky to witness first-hand the culture shock that hit many civil servants who'd only ever worked on Tory policy. It was delicious. And it felt like they were actually getting things done for a while.

LAST NIGHT
BBC-1's Play For Today, Penda's Fen, by David Rudkin, was one of the strangest productions seen in that slot for a long time. It was about a boy on the verge of manhood being tortured by sex, religion, music, hallucination and sinister forces beyond the grave. Spencer Banks gave a superb per-formance as the fractured adolescent.
It was one of those plays I don't think anyone totally understood-including the author-but it nevertheless had a compelling and doom-impending aura about it

And instead of people just ignoring him or telling him to shut up, now, in this different context, the comment has as much standing as the article, so people go “hmmm there’s something in what old Mick’s saying, I think I agree!”

I also think there’s an element of this where in the past these opinions would have been confined to “Mad Mick” in the pub, so you’d have had to stumble into particular pubs at particular times to hear them. Whereas now they’re just there, attached to a news story that you might be interested in.

Portrait of the artist as a young(er) facilitator.
A monochrome low resolution photo of Lloyd on a Pinpoint facilitation training day sometime at the turn of the century. The wall behind him is half-timbered. He looks uncertain in a way that others sometimes interpret as sceptical or critical. He’s holding a set of cards and standing in front of some hand-written boards, getting guidance from the group.
