Don’t label me, bro!
An unused sticky label for a 3.5 inch floppy disk. Printed in purple on white, it has “No Protect” and “Protect” at top right and horizontal lines and spaces for a description of the disk’s contents. These user-focused design elements could be unlocked using most everyday writing implements.

Morning.
A slightly quizzical avian/human face with small half-strawberries for eyebrows, blueberries for eyes and a larger slice of strawberry for nose or beak.

Solidarity.
Newspaper photo showing a CND march through Birmingham city centre with a jazz band and a banner from “Worcester Women For Peace”. Lloyd is carrying a couple of trumpet cases for members of the band.

LAST NIGHT
BBC-1's Play For Today, Penda's Fen, by David Rudkin, was one of the strangest productions seen in that slot for a long time. It was about a boy on the verge of manhood being tortured by sex, religion, music, hallucination and sinister forces beyond the grave. Spencer Banks gave a superb per-formance as the fractured adolescent.
It was one of those plays I don't think anyone totally understood-including the author-but it nevertheless had a compelling and doom-impending aura about it

Portrait of the artist as a young(er) facilitator.
A monochrome low resolution photo of Lloyd on a Pinpoint facilitation training day sometime at the turn of the century. The wall behind him is half-timbered. He looks uncertain in a way that others sometimes interpret as sceptical or critical. He’s holding a set of cards and standing in front of some hand-written boards, getting guidance from the group.

This uber-pixelated image comes from the opening meeting of ORG in November 2005. It seems that it fell off the to-do list somewhere along the line. Shame. ( cc @modernday.ntk.net )

Random find of the morning. Birmingham Post, June 4 1973 “…it was the *dirtiest* mosquito I’ve seen in a very long time”
Newspaper article headed: “Mrs Whitehouse”

reads: “Mrs. Mary Whitehouse, the clean-up television campaigner, was said to be very much better last night at Kidderminster General Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for malarial fever.”

The “old shop” space at Essex Hall, set up with a screen and flip chart at one end of the room and rows of chairs lined up for people to face forward and pay attention to one or two people and content that everyone needs to pay attention to. The “old shop” space at Essex Hall with two sofas and four chairs making a circle, for convivial conversation and a feeling of equity between participants. A banner on the wall reveals this space to belong to the Unitarians. Only part of the slogan “find your spiritual home” is visible.

50 years ago this summer, this is what I was spending 45p on!
Front cover of the novel version of “Doctor Who and the Genesis of the Daleks” by Terrance Dicks. The illustration features Davros front and centre with a dalek behind him. In a circular cutout there’s a portrait of Tom Baker as The Doctor, staring in horror. Also the publisher’s (Target) logo is in top right hand corner.
Title page with “DOCTOR WHO AND THE GENESIS OF THE DALEKS” at top. Below, “THE CHANGING FACE OF DOCTOR WHO” and “The cover illustration of this book portrays the fourth DOCTOR WHO”. The original owner (me) has printed an upside down date stamp of 5 AUG 1976 in the middle of the page.

He likes to start the day with some light reading.
A baby, in a bassinet on a wooden floor, holds up a cloth book showing a monkey and a tiger. The book conveniently obscures his face and therefore his identity as my son.

Protestors were laughing as the political leader fled.
It is unknown where he has gone."
