The bit of reading I've done so far about how this all was handled bears so much resemblance to how the churches (typically) handle abuse. Private accountability rituals that center the abuser, maintaining the postion/platform, abandonment of the women... The venn diagram is a fucking circle.

A noted psychotherapist and author– with all the position, authority, and influence that comes with his platform–has had multiple sexual relationships with women he had power over. The people in his community shielded and guarded those abuses. We've got to do our own work. I'm so tired.

Do you ever look at your houseplant and pat yourself on the back for taking good care of it and then see a picture of it growing in its native environment? Anyway here's what a dragon tree looks like.

A person stands in front of a dragon tree. It's trunk is twice as wide as she is and it is roughly 4-5 times taller. The tree cover is probably about 30 feet across with many, many individual poofs of leaves that I've always thought was the singular way a dragon tree houseplant grows.

Streaming took that from us. The last show we did that for was, bless our hearts, the last season of Game of Thrones. Now it's a struggle to finish a season of The Pitt with friends. There's no rhythm, it's too easy to bump episodes to a later time.

As a former resident I agree! There's so much in that city. I think it gets overlooked because it's essentially a bunch of suburbs pushed together and that makes the great stuff harder to find if you're only there for the weekend.

Eureka Day at the Seattle Rep is really a must see. It makes so much room for empathy around a difficult topic while being absolutely hilarious. Also, surprise (to me) – Jonathan Slavin is in it. His comedic timing is as exceptional live as it on television. Time for a Better Off Ted rewatch.
